Canal Ritz Restaurant

We just held an afternoon baby shower for about 40 people in the beautiful glassed-in dining area of the Canal Ritz. At 9am when we showed up for decorating the room, all the tables were perfectly set and the owner was on site. During the party, service was impeccable and the food including the pizzas was delicious and beautifully presented. This venue with a great view is the best for lunch, dinner and parties!

Absolutely fabulous outside views with a great outdoor seating. The problem is that the food tastes cheap. Luckily the portion sizes are very small so that you do not have to eat a lot of the mediocre food. This place had it all 20 years ago. Now they only have a stunning view.

The Canal Ritz is a fun place to spend some time and have a coffee or a snack while enjoying the location. As far as I know this is the only restaurant in Ottawa where you can sit outside and eat on a patio over the water. Very scenic but I wouldn't have high expectations about the food, and also I find it is quite pricey. This place gets incredibly busy on weekends or holidays. One nice bonus is that the Canal Ritz offers parking across the street.

Ate on the patio. It was very busy but service was quick, and staff came by regularly to refill water and drinks. Very relaxed place to hang out on the water. Charcuterie board, pasta and handhelds for lunch. All meals were enjoyed. Parking: Limited paid parking in lot across the street.

An unfortunate dining experience. Just as bad in 2022 as it has always been. 3 stars come solely from the location. Drinks are OK, but do not order food.

This restaurant was really busy and not as tasty as u would think for the outrageous prices. Came in as a group of 13 and my husband had made surprise bday reservations. We were put in centre of traffic inside and put three tables together blocking the walkway and being intruded on constantly . Was not that great tbh. Especially as they were not prepared and didn’t properly host our group! The view I must say is beautiful thou during the night and day!

Such a lovely spot, great for drinks and dessert while biking the canal. We ordered key lime pie, a pina colada, and a strawberry daiquiri. Everything was delicious and refreshing, and now we definitely want to go back for a meal next time! Staff were friendly and the patio space on the water was just gorgeous!

The only reason this gets 2 stars and not one is because they have a nice functional water fountain with cold water in front of the restaurant that I use on my running route! I don’t have any photos of the restaurant because 2 two meals I had there over the last 20 years were monumentally dreadful and the only other redeeming quality of the place is its proximity to the Flora Footbridge that makes for great photos!

This was my second experience at this restaurant. First order was a shrimp and scallop pasta dish, slightly bland sauce and the scallops were overcooked, but the pasta was fresh. Second order was a pear and brie pizza, slightly larger cuts than expected But absolutely delicious, with a chicken Caesar, Which was actually an error in the order I ordered it with no meat. So unfortunately a lot of this salad was thrown away. The owner did offer to provide a free dessert To compensate. Prices slightly higher than expected. Excellent service And staff.

Celebrating our wedding anniversary with a bike ride and lunch at Canal Ritz. We like the bike racks that allow us to keep an eye on our bikes from the terrace. Anna, our server was super sweet and effective, the food was excellent. We'll be back next year as usual !
