Canadian Railway Museum

Story

Amazing museum with so many different street cars and trains that had served different purposes. There's also an old metro where you can see the map of its expansion at different years. The miniature model train is very well done with careful details. We spent about 3 hours there and we have learned a lot!
A little known treasure. My family has been many times. The museum is an archive of trains that demonstrate the history of travel by train not only in quebec but through Canada. The airplane hanger mai building holds trains from early steamies and trolleys to quebes diesel electric commuter trains. Many are set up so that you can glimpse the past and even walk in or under. Fantastic. There is a mini train ride. A trolley ride that takes you around the museum grounds. A film. A turntable deonstration. A wonderful permanent display of miniature trains and special exhibitions. A great little gift shop. But bring your own food. The cafe is closed. There's a nice picnic area and places to eat inside if the weather isn't cooperating. The whole museum is set within a lovely woodland.
A really wonderful museum about the history of the Canadian Railways We spent almost 4 hours there walking through the museum and reading up on the history of each historical event. The employees are super polite and professional and answered our questions with ease : We particularly loved going inside some trains that were open to the public as well as the art gallery : All the trains on display are a sight to wonder and it was a great historical walk knowing about the roots of the Canadian Railways system Definitely check out the gift shop filled with so much memorabilia and of course try the miniature train ride ! Perfect place to bring family and friends
I visited the Canadian Railway Museum last week with my kids, and it was a wonderful trip! We got to explore the history of trains all in one place. The highlight was stepping inside the President of Canada's train from the 1800s or 1900s. The ambiance was really attractive, and we also watched a fascinating movie about trains. My kids had a blast making and painting gingerbread cookies. One of the funniest and most enjoyable experiences was riding the mini train—it was so much fun! Highly recommend visiting this museum!
One of the best museums I've visited in Quebec. Even during winter it is a great experience and I recommend everyone to go. It's worth the money. You will be pleasantly surprised. Don't forget the train ride at the end ! Even for adults it's very fun.
