Really struggling to keep coming back, been here seven years in a row and always rent multiple cabins for a week once or twice a summer. The private lake is nice, the park areas are good, the canteen the kids love. The actives are great for younger kids. I like the cabin areas. Fishing is great, multiple spots to fish. BUT the pool is closed more often than it's open the last couple years. The price seems a bit high for a cabin to be having one of the top amenities constantly closed. The pool is huge, clean and really the center of the camp. Other than that the shower stalls need a deeeeeep cleaning and the basketball courts need attention. Please get the pool open and fix the the basketball courts.
We were disappointed. 1. The bathroom has this horrendous oder. Smelt like rotten eggs and period blood. As I was brushing my teeth and went to wash my mouth the water tasted how the bathroom smelt Had to rinse with bottled water. This shows they don’t really clean the cabins. 2. Bugs everywhere. Bugs were even in the mats and as we unfolded the mats they ran out in a panic. 3. You’re sleeping on mats. The mats don’t even look sanitized they just throw them in the picnic table and drive away.
Camp Dearborn is not the place that it once was. There aren't too many employees so there aren't many amenities that are open. I would have liked to have gone canoeing but that is closed. There are no mattresses on the beds so bring one. The things that they have are sand filled mats. The fishing was fun but I can do that anywhere. Reply to your response: I know that the staffing issues are not your fault. I appreciate the response.
I must say how much my family and I have enjoyed staying here. It was so relaxing! I've camped many times before and they have the largest sites by far. The lake is clean and sandy. They have so many different play grounds for the kids. Im also so happy the women who made our reservations asked me about my family and told me she would put us near the playground for our little ones. They have a wash station for dishes and the bathroom s were clean. There was little to no traffic on our road and we felt safe letting our kids run around. The dumpsters are large and very conveniently located. Fishing is allowed and I was able to see a young boy catch a huge fish while my boys were swimming. The only complaint I would have is they only have one washer and dryer site which was located a good distance from our site but they worked well and we're done fast. We will be back for another stay for sure!
It seems like they may be going out of business or can't hire any help to run things. A lot of things are not open like the pool and canteen etc.. and there are blocked roads and weeds growing up through common areas, not as many outhouses throughout the rustic cabin side so you either climb a steep hill in the dark or you drive all the way up to the main entrance in the night. Not handicap friendly at all you cannot park near the cabins. You're either climbing a step hill or going down one to get back and forth to your vehicle. The bathrooms shower area were clean and smelled of bleach so that was a plus and it was very peaceful even though they said they were at 75% capacity.
Never again. Rudest, most inconsiderate campers kept us up until 3:00 AM every night. We complained and no one did a thing. Other campers were complaining --nothing was done. Bathrooms were a disaster with blocked toilets, no hand soap, and doors that wouldn't lock. Roads have massive potholes in them. Have some pride and take care of your property and respect your campers' desire and right to sleep.
Wish I had seen a post regarding the mattresses before we went this past weekend. I would have canceled My daughter, her husband and two kids 4 and 2 arrived to the resort cabin after a drive from Ohio to find they would be sleeping on plywood. A dirty cabin with a concrete floor and nothing to sleep on. Needless to say they went to a hotel. When talking to the staff they played a great game of pass the buck and we have still not received a call from Scott which was supposedly who the buck stopped with. They were rude and insinuated we were lying about the cleanliness but there was no way to lie about nothing to sleep on. An employee showed us where they had marked it on a brochure but there was no mention about the mattresses being removed on the paperwork I signed. I didn’t realize it was necessary to look at every page of the website. They took the time to say no pets on the contract. You’d think they’d let you know there was no place to sleep. I will be posting a poor review everywhere I can find a place to put it and disputing the charges for the misrepresented unused cabin on my credit card.
First, you won’t let delivery drivers or help customers in the park which creates trouble for us to complete orders on time. Then, you take cash only to enter which is extremely inconvenient for many, and some of your employees are extremely RUDE particular this older, shorter lady with brown hair at the front check-in to those who need to get into the park such as delivery workers. Make it easier for those with deliveries and customers generally! I’m not sure why your workers are like this maybe PAY YOUR WORKERS MORE A LIVING WAGE , hire differently, but do something. Also I left a voicemail and the park staff hung up so extremely rude. I also have heard their security is islamophobic so not okay. There are other parks with beaches and Camp Dearborn will no longer receive my business.
Shocked how unkempt and dirty it was and sad to see how downhill it has gone. Weeds, dirty, overgrown ponds. Don’t know if they don’t have enough help but it is a shame how far this place has fallen. The seasonal area looks like a place campers go to die. So many abandoned filthy campers. We used to love coming here but will not be coming back. Hoping the city of Dearborn steps up.
I was invited from a friend. I enjoyed my stay. My sons had a blast . Dodgeball, swimming, smores, etc. Relax by the water or fire at night with a cold 1..
