Story

Very disappointed of this place . We tried to make a reservation before going and no one answered the phone . We still went on a saturday morning I understand is probably the worst time and day and we were told they’ll have a table ready for us 2 people in 15 minutes, to wait outside they’ll called us . Two ladies enter after us and they were given a table 10min after and they never made them wait outside, we tought they must have had a reservation. 30 minutes later a family of 16 left and a family of 4 have left in between these 30 minuted, another couple walks in they were giving a table right away . We entered to see what was going on and the girl saw us like she completely forgot about us , even tho we were in front of the door the whole time, we were told she’ll get a table for us in 5minutes . We got a table in the most awful spot but still we gave them the benefit of the doubt . Server came to ask for drinks and dissapeared for like 20 minutes, a couple arrived 5 minutes after we got seated, the same server took all of their orders first and still never came to us . We asked someone to take our order finally . Food was not the best quality or taste . We had the classic breakfast, potatoes were nasty, I don’t understand how can you mess up potatoes that bad they tasted like old re heated potatoes that were never cooked properly. Sausages were good the rest was average . We also had one of the breakfast sandwich, was a weird mix of different ingredients, very dry and basic-ish they use the same bread as the toast, so it was very small and could barely taste the flavours. The salad on the side was the weirdest mix with a sauce that made everything taste worst . I usually would come back to these type of places if at least the regular breakfast was good , this place was no it . Save your money and go somewhere else or cook at home, believe me is way better .
My first time here, in a part of town I don't know well. A friendly little place with good service and a relaxed atmosphere. The food was fast in coming and the fish and chips I had were tasty. Battered fish is often a good test because it is either done properly... or it really isn't. I'm happy to say that Café Cognac's cook did a nice job. Parking: Lots of free parking in the complex
Went there for breakfast Saturday morning. Staff were extremely busy, our waitress was pleasant however very hard to get her attention to order. The breakfast potatoes were stale, hard and cold. Two other tables returned their food while we were waiting. Won’t be returning for the price and quality of the food.
This resturant is an eample for bad management. We were 3 people. Waited hour and a half and the foid did not arrive. We order the special of the day. We were told after hour and a half of waiting that there was a group before us. So bad service i did not have for a while. Food reasonable. Not more.... stay away specially if you with kids...
I have been to Café Cognac at least 10 times since the opening and will go again. Always for Breakfast or Brunch. Meals and service are excellent. Prices are fair. I give 4 stars because the food is good but nothing outstanding. I recommend.
Just finished lunch with my sister, and I have some things to say, we came in with high expectations from there old location being quite popular and lovey but this location wasnt up to par. first front staff was absolutely lovely, we ordered fish and chips for myself and a duck salad for my sister with calamari as a starter. Calamari was fine though it was around a 20 minute wait for such a quick and simple dish I find, the real problem came with our food, my fish was plan and tasted frozen I didn't taste any beer in a beer based batter and the fries felt and tasted old they were hard and barely hot, duck was alright though we did find it odd that the duck served cold instead of hot and it absolutely tasted refrigerated happens when food has been in a fridge for a day or two not cealed properly, then desert i got a cream bruleé and my sis got churros, churros tasted and looked more like a beaver tail and were slightly raw in the middle, my cream bruleé was extremely hard, I had to full force hit the caramel with a spoon, should of surved it was a chisel, it was under the salamander for too long it felt like I was eating sponge toffee. And the custard was way to sweet tasted like the filling of a Boston cream donut. From the consumers point of view the line cook didn't give a second glance on the food they were pushing out. Spent 104$ for this. Sorry, not coming again
Nice, affordable place without much pretention. I only wish they had more vegetarian options.
Very disappointed with the quantity and quality of food for the price. We went to brunch and for about 15$, you have a single medium piece of crepe with 2 slices of pears, 2 small pieces of brie and a drizzle of honey. No sides. Had to ask for a side, which was a very small salad for 7.50$. My chocolate and banana crepe had no flavor and had like a total of 4 bananas in. I ate maybe half of it. No sides as well for around 15$. Potatoes in other plates were bland. Service was slow. But at least, for his second day at work, Brendon? gave us good service. I do not recommend this place if you want to eat breakfast.
Great place for breakfast! Veer pleasant service, nice back patio and great breakfast menu. Everything was fresh and tasty. Price = quality l
We have been to Cafe Cognac several times for breakfast and the food is always delicious and service is always great! Based on breakfast i would give them 5 stars. The reason I am giving 3 stars is because we went for dinner. Service was great as usual, the fried Calamari was delicious. We decided to order burgers. Our burgers were served over cooked. The patty was dry and tasted burnt. At that price point, the server should be asking how you want your burger cooked, medium is what we were expecting not very well done. I don't like giving a poor review, I know restaurants are hurting and hiring has been difficult. Give this place a try, it is well worth it. Next time we go we will make sure to tell them we want our burger medium.
