Fantastic place. Delicious treats, fondue, crepes, and coffee. Super nice and friendly staff. Nicely decorated, very pleasant place to spend your time with friends or family and even to have a meeting. Loved the Matcha fondue. A little different taste, something cool to try. Next time will try the chocolate marshmallow pizza on the menu. Looks really good. :
The place has a cool interior. The service was VERY slow since we were the only people inside the restaurant. The food was delicious. The main reason it's a 3 because of the service.
Nice place for dessert if you are downtown! Wide range of chocolate types and sweets. Presentation is also very nice! The restaurant its self is cozy and has lots of seating! They offer other food items along side the chocolate and there hot and cold beverages are also wonderful. Hard to find parking very close but tends to not be a problem if you are already downtown! Servers are genuine and check on you regularly. Accessible washrooms.
Delicious! Do not come here expecting your self restraint to hold when you see the table next to you digging into a decadent parfait. There's savoury food too, but honestly, you're here for the chocolate. It would be nice if they started getting more into nuances that you can find in different regional varietals - maybe something for a future menu.
While we enjoyed visiting the Cacao 70 in Ottawa, the visit to the location in Kingston was a rather mixed experience. While drinks and food get four stars for flavour, service gets a very low grade. We were a group of four people and ordered drinks and one fondue only. While the drinks came out fairly quickly, the person delivering them to our table was not the original server and there was some confusion initially when we received an incorrect order. The drinks were delicious cafe latte, mocha, double chocolate hot chocolate, espresso and we did enjoy them. Unfortunately, while the fondue tasted great - we ordered the peanut butter and chocolate - it finally came only after we had already finished our drinks. We would have enjoyed it more if it didn't take 40 minutes to be delivered to our table. While we were taking shelter from the rain and in no rush to leave, it certainly took much longer than expected and, if we were in a rush, we would certainly have cancelled and left. As we never saw our initial server again, we had to make our way to the front of the store to request to pay our bill. Considering the much better service at the Ottawa location, the visit to the location in Kingston will be a one-time occurrence only.
The servers were very friendly and accommodating. But, I've attached a few photos of our orders. I didn't know I was supposed to make my own crepe. My expreso was interesting to say the least.
Very friendly service from the staff. They were quick, efficient and attentive. The ambience was really nice and cozy. The quality of dessert was not great, I think there was TOO much whipped cream and not enough cheesecake. I would return for the good service.
Nice cozy environment and lots of places to sit, with friendly hostess, walked in and was seated immediately, the menu is a little confusing if its your first time but the server happily explained it and gave us plenty of time to look through the menu and find what we want. The drinks were pretty pricy but your getting what you pay for, had the Champurrado Mexican-style hot chocolate which was delicious and could tell it was made from scratch with real coco and whipped cream. Didn't order any food but saw what others were eating and it looked really good and smelled awesome will come back another time for some food. Might seem expensive at first but it is totally worth it. The only complaint i have is in the mens washroom the toilet paper is too far away from the toilet.
Really cozy location that offers a wide variety of desserts. I ordered the matcha fondue platter and the fruit crepe. Cacao 70 makes dessert eating super fun!
I love their chocolates and crepes, when I am nearby Kingston this is must stop for me. I always order the hot dark chocolate in large size. Be sure to ask it with marshmallow it is delicious! Last visit I ordered the Bacon Wrap. I found it tooo expensive for what is is. I would recommend better the Ham panini, it offers more value for your bucks. Another thing is that they look like understaffed, my last 2 visits I've had to wait more than 10 minutes to be served. T But after you order the food comes in a decent amount of time.
