We just got back from dinner, everything was perfect. The pork belly was perfectly cooked and the sauces on all of our dishes were seasoned incredibly. Local wine selection is just a wonderful addition to a wonderful menu. Keep up the excellent work Brownstone.
Service was good. The drinks and trout tartar was very good. However, the mains were a bit disappointing. The trout was cooked perfectly, but the side potatoes were under done and tasted like it was parboiled instead of roasted. For a restaurant this caliber, I would expect a better execution of the entire dish.
Loved the building and the way they are maintaining it. Amazing hospitality and they always keeps an eye on you to find an opportunity to help you out when you are in need. Prompt service. And the food was so yum. Winter sangria was spot on so was the bacon wrapped elk meatloaf. The pasta in seafood main was so good that I felt like eating eventhough I was full. And the Chocolate cake was so good with its flavour, texture and bitterness. Loved it with the strawberry flavour on side. Overall a 10/10 with no flaws. Really a great restaurant and great people. Edit: I wanted to try more Poutines to comment on the Poutine I had from here but I could not find better Poutine than here on anywhere else. Best Poutine I ever had. Love your food and people. Super professionals.
Make a reservation a head of time at the weekend for sure. I love the food we ordered, a salad with onion, baby spinach and mashroom was very delicious. Their chicken wings it’s a must order Happy hours is from 3 to 6 during the week and the prices are very affordable. I tried a can of ginger beer this time which was very tasty.
Excellent service and intimate atmosphere! The starter duck fat fried poutine was very tasty and immediately served! My pepper crusted ahi tuna was cooked perfectly and the udon noodles were firm. I was not a fan of the veggies as the cabbage? was bitter for me. The steak was nicely cooked and the serving sizes were good for the cost. I would go back and try the chicken with mushroom Risotto it sounds so good.
Another recommendation from Where to Eat in Canada, which has run its course, Brownstone was a fantastic place to have dinner. I had the delicious duck breast with perfectly cooked wild rice and delicious seasonal veggies. The cherry demi-glace was such a great flavour with the duck. As a started, I had the carrot-ginger soup which has just the right spicing to warm you on a brisk summer evening. To drink, the category 4 hurricane Tiki drink was a great, tropical-feeling rum cocktail that helped cut through my fairly rich meal. The service was fantastic, very friendly and quick.
I tried the lamb and it was very tender. Loved the mashed potatoes that had horseradish mixed in with them - I’ve never tasted anything like that before and thought it was clever! The cheesecake was pretty good but the proportion of crumble was off there was way too much. Also I personally didn’t think it needed the ice cream which didn’t seem very high quality anyway.
This is the second time my partner and I have gone and it’s been amazing both times. Once for an anniversary, and this time for a birthday. The drinks are delicious, all of the food is amazing, one of the best steaks I have ever had, and such a lovely atmosphere. The staff/owner have treated us so well, and we can’t wait to come back! Thank you so much for such a nice night. It’s a gem of Kamloops!
Amazing! We would go out of our way to stay in Kamloops just to eat in this restaurant. Great location. Great ambience especially on the terrace on a balmy summer evening. Great menu and the food was executed perfectly. One of our highlight meals on a 3 week road trip of BC and Alberta. This restaurant shows $$$ but it's cheap for the quality.
I stopped in after a long day of driving from Banff. So refreshing to eat the local trout tartare, crab cake, and even wine from not too far. All exceptional. Thank you Connie!
