The hideaway is an excellent dive spot and the place is well-loved. John is an expert on the area, on diving, and an all-around great dude. He really cares about the area, the environment, and the people there. If you're coming away from this experience with a negative impression, I can only assume that you came into it with a negative attitude. I have had wonderful experiences and have made lifelong friends at the hideaway. As soon as I am able I am going to return.

Worst experience you can imagine. The owner is known to leave people alone on the dive resort for weeks or even months without a boat to escape. Even the the coast guard is tired of coming to get people out of this nightmare. This place is a junkyard starting on his resort, continuing in the forest. There is junk everywhere, dangerous for the environment and for us. THIS PLACE SHOULD CLOSE ASAP. If you want more info, ask around in Port Hardy, the owner John DeBoeck has a really bad reputation.

Undoubtly one of the best divin anywhere! Facilities are nice, food great. John the skiper is more knowledgeable than an encyclopedia. His drops are perfect! A real treat!

Rustic, cute, quirky...friendly and helpful volunteers, very knowledgeable owner, AMAZING diving. Communication is diffucult but once visiting, you'll understand why. I highly recommend this adventure...it'll give you stories and memories for years to come.
