Brie & Barrel

The Brie & Barrel has one of the best chefs on Vancouver Island. The food is amazing. If you are there on Tuesday night you can enjoy music on the patio starting April 30th with Dennis Olsen and Guy Langlois. Performing Jazz, Classical and Pop songs. See you there.

We visited this nice restaurant during our short stay in Port Alberni. I had a refreshing and excellent local IPA, and we also ordered olives with lemon and garlic as a starter. For the main course, we had a Moroccan BBQ brisket with homemade tagliatelle and vegetables and lemon pepper prawn linguine. All dishes were excellently cooked- the brisket was juicy and spicy. The homemade tagliatelle with seasonal vegetables were a fabulous supplement!nThe lemon pepper and prawn linguine were fantastic. I loved the combination of dried tomatoes, spinach, capers and artichokes with a touch of lemon. The prawns were spot on. As a dessert, we had vanilla ice cream with raspberry sauce and cranberries. We were more than happy with the quality of the food and, not least, with the quality of the service.

Fantastic local restaurant in Port Alberni.nThe staff were extremely welcoming, friendly, and professional.nThe drinks menu was filled with as many local options as they could fit.nFor dinner I had the Braised Short Rib+Gnocchi and my partner had the Chicken Cordon Brie. Both dishes were phenomenal.nEverything was perfectly cooked and well seasoned.nThe potion sizes were normal, not too much, not too little.nnThank you greatly for the experience, we most definitely will be dining here again

Best meal we’ve had in a long time. Had the Arancini Risotto balls I could’ve eaten 12 of these and Mushroom Calamari appetizers. Mains were Braised Short Rib & Gnocchi cooked to perfection and the Chicken Cordon Brie & Linguine . Both had a great mix of quality veggies Onion, Beets, Mixed Carrots and Broccolini. Which is great because I’m so tired of getting Green Beans as my seasonal veg while eating out. Also kudos to the staff who found us a spot inside after it started raining substantially while we were enjoying the garden seating. Finished off with a New York style Cheesecake w/ strawberry compote dessert 10/10 will come back again.

This place never disappoints! Our go-to whenever we have a special occasion to celebrate or just because. Everything that we ordered was full of flavor. The cocktails/wines perfectly complement the meal. We will come back for sure! Thank you for a great night!
