Brar Sweets & Restaurant
"Brar’s was purchased from the original owner with a goal to provide the highest quality products in the industry. With this purpose, Dial Pabla the new owner in 1991 purchased a small takeaway restaurant that only served sweets and savories at the time. One change that immediately took effect under the guidance of the new owner was: no products such as samosas, once prepared, were kept for sale the next day. Ironically, this was not a normal practice among industry competitors. Customers noticed the difference and the word spread. Brar’s started to revolutionize the Indian food business in Toronto, Canada; no more stale day-old left-overs."

Great place, decent ambience, warm support stuff to make your experience delightful. If you are a vegetarian buff, this is your destination. They have a grand spread of multi-cuisine Indo-Chineese, South Indian, Mughlai, North Indian pallet topped with varied desert options that will certainly make you come again. Only recommendation would be to be judicious of the time that you choose. The place gets very busy after 6,6:30 PM and it gets slightly distressful if you have little ones with you.
Review of Brar's grand buffet: Started my dinner with pani puri. Then had dahi vada, paneer tikka, soya malai chap, veg kabab, and pav bhaji. Everything was yummy in appetizers. In rice, veg pulao was better than white rice. In subjis and daals, shahi paneer, dal makhni, matar paneer, chana masala, malai kofta, and kadi were awesome and reminded me of food in Punjab/Delhi. Palak corn, chaap curry, kadai paneer, and mix veg were ordinary. Aloo Gobi, Saag and makke ki roti I did not try. Dosa and coconut chutney were not very tasty. In desserts, gajar and moong dal halwa, ras malai, and kheer were lip smacking. Barfi and fruit custard were ok. Chai had to be ordered separately. It had earthy taste to it with decent amount of spices. Felt it wasn't piping hot but very warm. Staff, mostly Punjabi girls, were very attentive. Bill was broght to the table. Payment machine had 15%, 20%, 25% amounts displayed for tips so didn't have to calculate it. Overall a very good experience. Must try if you are in Toronto area. Vegetarian options: All dishes are vegetarian here
I was very excited to visit this place after reading all the amazing reviews. However, I had a horrible experience. Everything was cold and tasteless. Even the ice cream was not good I dont understand how can they mess up ice cream. The only good thing was Prabhjyot and Riya's service. They were polite and friendly. Please save your money and go to another restaurant!
Excellent experience during lunch recently. Nice ambience of the restaurant and grand buffet as if all vegetarian options in the world were available- the name says it right. The starters, main course and desert options were large and delicious in taste. Staff was very cordial, active and prompt in services. The manager Robin came to ask us personally about the experience. He was working actively with staff to keep the place clean and make tables available quickly for new customers. The restaurant seemed very popular. Later I bought few sweets moong daal Halwa, Gajar Halwa and Milk cake from the shop and they tasted authentic and delicious.Overall great experience.
We came in for a late lunch today and boy oh boy did the food look fresh and colorful! It tasted as good as it looked. The salads were really fresh and still had their crunch. The flavors were well balanced. Fruits again, very fresh. Pani puri as usual was outstanding. The Chinese starters were good too. The crispy veg and pakoras had become little hard to chew but I'm guessing that's because we had a late lunch. While hot and fresh they would've tasted delicious. By the time we got to the main course our stomachs were super full lol. We still managed to have some. Desserts were enjoyed mostly by eyes only because unfortunately God has not given us more than one stomach to eat so much . Special shout out to our server Jasdeep, hi Jasdeep thanks for serving us with a smile.
Dil Khush Kar ditta tussi!! Amazing buffet restaurant with a long list of food varieties. Food quality and staff services are really great. It’s really hard to maintain so many food items in a buffet, but according to my experience they had maintained the quality level for each items served. You’ll find most of the cuisines from all over India. They usually give you 1.3 hours to finish your food as usually people are in the wait list. Keep in mind to add yourself in the ‘Waitlist’ before you go to the restaurant You can do it when you search them on Google & you’ll find a button saying ‘Join waitlist’. I had almost 140 mins wait time on Friday night. Brar itself is a brand with multiple products including dairy, sweets & other edible items. You can even purchase them from this restaurant. A Must try !!
this place is OMG!!! The buffet was too overwhelming so we only ordered a la carte and here are the items we tried and totally loved - Dahi Puri, Chat Papri - this was just soooo good, Chana Bhatura was the star of the show! Mango Lassi was insanely amazing - it was thick and flavourful! They also have fresh Indian sweets, I was thrilled to grab Panjiri so tasty! The only thing I did not like was the Hakka noodles and chili paneer both of the items didn't taste good or fresh. It is really hard to make great Indo-Chinese items, overall the Punjabi street food was insane. This place stands up to its reputation and please don't go by its trashy outdoor outlook - they definitely need to improve it though, and the world changes as you walk in, it's very clean and well maintened. We will definitely visit Brar again.
We were waiting for this buffet since long and finally we have it. There are varieties of snacks, main course and desserts. We were not able to try a lot of dishes :. But the taste was delicious except paneer tikka which was very hard. Apart from that each dish was delicious. There is no prior reservation, you can just walk-in. Parking is available so no need to worry about it. At the end, we were so full not able to drink water :. Joke apart, it was a nice experience.
Only gave three stars for the kitchen staff. Certainly not the floor staff. Service is disaster as they just work to work there. Manager is very weak as we didn’t see any motivation and enthusiasm in her so that it will be example to other working staff. There was plenty of mistakes and not welcomed at all. Our two main dishes got delayed for almost 25 minutes and we have to remind them for those two main courses to bring so at least our two family members can eat though they couldn’t east with us as our all other food came so on time. But what makes us sad is they have the best vegetarian food in the town. Quality, quantity and kind of value for money. Owners please motivate your staff by paying them or giving them some sort of motivation. We even saw that the staff were fighting for cash tips from left over bill folders. What a shame. FIVE STAR QUALITY MEALS AT ROADSIDE QUALITY SERVICE! After all there’s no point having the best chefs without best service team. One hand can not clap. BIG NO TO SECOND VISIT.
Buffet Review: Brars Charge $32 ++ per person for a buffet. Its a mixed bag. Its a very noisy and lousy place. Food is overall good, but their signature paneer products are very poorly prepared. Paneek tikka and haryali paneer tikka were very very dry and chewy, considering they produce best paneer in Canada. The music they place is pathetic, cheap punjabi songs and that too at full volume. They can do so good if little emphasis is given on quality and standard. Sweets Review: Brars is the biggest name in ethnic food scene in Canada. They have some amazing products such as paneer, desi ghee, frozen samosas and Indian sweets, however when you go to Brars restaurant, its a different story all-together . The wait time is too long for take away pre order or for over the counter sale. I bought some Indian sweets, it took the staff 45 minutes to pack from the time l ordered, another 15 minutes to Pack veg pakoras and that too on a day which was not busy, there were hardly 5 customers at that time. So its not worth the wait. When l complained to cashier Dev, he shot me back by saying, “so what, everyone is waiting”. Well this is kind of attitude which no body would want. If Brars can improve their customer service, over the counter sale experience, time per order, it will boost their overall sale and name in the market, Otherwise part time student staff and untrained cashier like dev is hurting their business. Looks like a good Indian modern restaurant with traditional Indian mindset when it comes to service.
