First time here and was happy with the service. Our server was very nice, in fact. We tried the eggs Benedict, which was very good, and the baked French toast, which I found a little rich, but tasty. We also bought some pastries to go. The dining area is small but they have a heated outdoor patio.
The service was awful. The waiter was condescending and every time I would ask a question he would reply in a tone why are you even asking a this question. He specifically told me the smoke salmon with egg comes with bread and salad. I asked for no bread because of my gluten intolerance. He comes out with the egg and smoke salmon and no salad. I asked him if it comes with salad and he said no, but if you want a side order of salad then you can... Again in a condescending tone why are you even asking me. My friend heard him state that it comes with salad and bread... So either he's giving false info or trying to get me to order another side to go with it... Is this all because I cannot have bread who knows? The lady owner? who came to our table almost took my plate away while there was still food on it. She has such a snooty attitude about her. Once we were ready to have our plates taken away she tried to rush us out and slammed the bill down without us even asking for it. After we paid, my friend went to the washroom as I was still waiting for her at the table she kept coming to see if we had left yet to she can clean up. Honestly, I have had better customer service at McDonald's. This place made me so uncomfortable to be in and left me questioning myself was i crazy for asking simple questions about my order. Would I ever come back here? Definitely no. Was the food good? Mediocre at best.
We went on a Sunday and there was a line up indicating that it is a very popular place. So prepare to stay outside in a line to be seated. We ordered fig tart and bonjour Benny with smoked salmon. They ran out of tomato and avocado and no one informed us that they ran out of croissants and it was replaced by a bun. It took a long time for us to get our order but considering that they just opened indoor dining after Covid restrictions are lifted, that’s more understandable. Food was really delicious!
Wow. So as soon as you get through the waiting line worth it btw, you are greeted with a smash of warm air scented with freshly baked bread, and fresh ground coffee. The server was incredibly friendly and patient. We ordered a tea and pomegranate mimosa for our drinks. We both ordered the eggs Benedict on smoked salmon on a fresh baked croissant, and an extra croissant on the side. The flavor that hits you is indescribable, it is salty, sweet, creamy, eggy, fluffy, buttery... All in one bite. Then we ordered a lemon twist and a lemon tart for dessert. If you love lemon, and can't get enough of it, the tart is for you. It's SOOOO tart, I mean it is called a tart so they have that down pat. It is served with raw whipped cream, but the tart is sweet enough to compliment the raw cream. The lemon twice was great! Less lemon, great for those who like a touch of lemon, instead of being assaulted by lemon flavor like in the tart. 9.5/10 recommend and would 100% return. The wait is well worth it.
I went here while my dog was getting groomed nearby. I had to pick my dog up earlier than expected and they were very understanding and held my food back until I was back with my dog. They then treated him to a snack and some water while I enjoyed my breakfast on the street side patio. Great service. Very friendly. Amazing food!
Such a wonderful place to have brunch. Great food and friendly service. Can highly recommend the Spicy Caesar and make sure to get dessert. Thanks Hannah for making our visit memorable! Cheers!
Cute, cozy and always fresh! A classic brunch spot in the East end that has been going strong for over two decades. We’ve been going for years and it’s always such a pleasure. Breakfast options are creative and flavourful and the baked goods are so good. Definitely try their flourless chocolate cake!
I’ve always heard amazing things about this place but I didn’t really understand the hype. I understand that they have fresh baked desserts but the tart we tried was only okay. Everything we tried was quite lackluster. There wasn’t a lot of flavour to the scrambled eggs. The Caesars were quite watered down. Our service was OK during the meal but when we tried to look for refills on drinks and pay our bill the server had vanished for over 35 minutes. I don’t know if I’ll wait in line or ever come back here
A nice and cosy brunch place which also has an outdoor heated section. Service was top of the line and the Bennys Benedict are probably the best I’ve had. I had it with the smoked salmon and would definitely go have them again. Brilliant!
I used to come to this place a lot a long while back. It was so cute/ neighbourhoody/ vibey etc. Revisited last week and it was rather disappointing! The food was kinda bland, kinda basic, not very elevated. They still had the caviar on potato rosti, the croque madame, but someone it just felt very underwhelming? unlike the girl in the reviews below, I thought the waiter was trying his best to service everyone in the space, also it really was just him running the whole show. Kinda demanding, and post covid I understand if they're low staffed, it was more so the food that disappointed me.
