Story

The cuisine of the Boathouse, created with distinctive flair is refined and contemporary, with an underlying element that echoes the classical French tradition of Escoffier.

The Boathouse experience begins with a drive along the shores of beautiful West Grand Traverse Bay and its sparkling blue waters.

This was the best dining experience my husband and I have ever had. First of all, the location is stunning, the restaurant is charming, and the food is incredible. We both ordered the salmon, and it was the best I have ever had. The crust was perfect, the fish was amazingly tender and juicy, and the flavors on the plate paired perfectly - the saltiness of the risotto was balanced perfectly by the sweet crunch of golden beets. It was delicious and impressively intentional. Our server was gracious and helpful. As if all this wasn't enough, after our server found out that we were celebrating our 3rd wedding anniversary, a few minutes later he emerged from the back with an anniversary CARD signed by all the staff members!!! Along with a small box of chocolate! We were so completely stunned and touched. BUT THEN, when we opened the bill, ONE HUNDRED DOLLARS had already been paid! We called our server over to ask about it, and he told us that "an anonymous person paid" and that he didn't know who it was. However, my husband and I suspect it may have been him or the staff collectively, because as we were walking out of the restaurant, EVERY SINGLE employee we passed beamed at us and wished us a happy anniversary. (We passed at least 7 employees.) Whatever the case, and whoever paid, (since we honestly don't know,) the service and food were so incredible that we were completely floored before that even happened. I cannot recommend this place highly enough. I wish I could give it more stars.

Absolutely LOVE this restaurant. Located on the Grand Traverse Bay, you have a beautiful dining view. The staff is absolutely bar none superb!!! The menu OUT OF THIS WORLD DELICIOUS!!! The only down side to this restaurant is you will want to try one of everything!!! However, don't leave your wallet at home, a bit pricey, but on my opinion well worth it!!!

Only place in Traverse City that has a veiw of the sunset for dinner. The food is AMAZING. The bar menu is on point. Great vegan and vegetarian dishes available. Can't say enough great things about this place. The staff is friendly and offers a true expirience of the TC area. Not up tight and casual dress is acceptable. Resort casual. Owners are hands on and available to answer questions about anything you want from what to do in the area to where the food comes from. Most vegetables are grown/foraged by the owner and chef and staff themselves

Amazing service. Lobster bisque was awesome. Great atmosphere! Definitely will return. Best salmon I have ever had.

The Boathouse is absolutely fantastic. I would highly recommend it. Make a reservation. Summertime is really busy, but the food and service are worth it.
