Story

Located in Glen Arbor on the shore of Lake Michigan with panoramic views of Sleeping Bear Bay and the Manitou Islands, Blu has a location unparalleled by any Michigan restaurant. With thoughtfully executed cuisine, our award winning wine program and gracious hospitality we seek to excite, inspire, and transport guests for one memorable evening.

European techniques fused with local ingredients and the finest from afar will influence Chef Randy Chamberlain's daily changing menus with an emphasis on the products, simplicity and flavor. The carefully chosen wine list includes vintners from around the world including local favorites as selected by Sommelier Mari Chamberlain.

Since opening in 2008 Blu has received numerous accolades including a James Beard nomination for Best Chef-Great Lakes and high praise from Wine Spectator and Travel+Leisure. This was Our first time here. We came to celebrate our wedding anniversary. It was an excellent dinner. From the room, to the view, to the meal, to the drinks, and the dessert our evening was made special by our server. The Chef even came out to ask us about our meal and to wish us well. Thank you. Yes, it is fairly expensive, but so worth it. We travelled 2.5 hrs to get here. Almost on a whim. We are so glad we did. Be sure to make reservations well in advance. It was a rainy day. Our view. The riders were from the Sleeping Bear Dunes National Park.

Where to begin? If you're looking for a large-portioned chain style restaurant, this isn't for you. If you're looking for exceptional service and food that is for a refined pallet, come here! You'll need to make sure you have a reservation in advance. But certainly worth the visit!

Almost comically good service. The food was fantastic, and everyone I went with was extremely happy. Stunning view too, and the restaurant, through it's reservation policy, kept the restaurant quite and more personal, if I can say that. It was a wonderful dining experience. My only stipulation would be that there are some other absolutely wonderful restaurants in the area that are a little, or a lot, less expensive, so you could argue whether you think Blu is a good value. I usually don't think it's a fair comparison to draw, considering we are talking about different businesses, but these restaurants don't exist in a vacuum, and considering dinner cost over $400, even if it was one of the best meals I've ever had, I think it's fair to mention. Again, the food here was near perfect, the service was probably the best I've seen in a restaurant, and if you order the duck confiet (forgive my spelling if it's wrong) you get a cute little receipt showing how many of the chefs special he's made up to your order. It's little touches like that that make Blu so enjoyable, and frankly special. But I can't say say a cute receipt is worth the price difference. Ultimately, look into it. Budget allowing, this is a must.
