For tent camping it was okay. Seems like it is more suited more for trailers/mobile homes. Campsites were riddled with gravel paths for trailers to to parked on. Site signage is very confusing and water/power is not in great locations. for these sites. Security was very strict about quiet hours which I appreciate having young kids. Bathrooms were a mess for most the weekend. No toilet paper for two days and were pretty filthy.- garbage all over floor. We were there for the trick or treating activities and it was amazing. Residents really put on a great event and the kids loved it. Playground was really nice as well. Cabins looked really nice from what I saw. It was quite a party for all ages. We would for sure go back.
For someone staying at the campground that’s not a seasonal camper this place was just meh… Camp store was barely open and the activities for the kids were lacking. Most of the facilities were dirty and not well kept. We visited in late August so be prepared for yellow jackets. Overall this place could be way better if they put forth an effort to keep the place up. Positive note is that the some of the sites are rather big but you don’t know what you’ll get because they pick your spot.
The campground itself was very nice and well maintained. Pool area was closed but it looks nice. It's October and chilly. The park was mostly empty, yet instead of putting us in a nice sunny pull through level spot, we were put in a back-in ahaded spot that not very level. The sewer hose had to go uphill ‍ which is a real problem. Blackhawk - don't book Site IV50 Also no WiFi.
Me and my family had the worst trip of our lives here and we will never be returning. When we first got there we had to call staff right away because we were being attacked by bees then that same night a staff had harassed the kids by almost running them off the road with a golf cart. If you do not stay here seasonally then you are not welcome. There was absolutely nothing good about this trip and our family could not wait to pack up and leave. Also, the AC in our cabin had stopped working and staff blamed it on us. They did not know how to fix it we ended up fixing it ourselves. I do not recommend this place at all!!
I stayed at Blackhawk RV Camping Resort as part of a Thousand Trails about a week ago. I could not be more impressed! From the day of my arrival, I was made to feel welcome from super friendly staff and seasonals shout-out to Brad, Brian, Ben and Steve, also to a woman with short blonde hair and a pink golf cart, who was also very helpful- sorry I didn't get your name. Anyway, the campground is HUGE and very well-kept. There is plenty of space between campers- from anyone in tents to living in one of their cabins. I was in my own Class-A. I had full hook-ups 20-50amp available at the pole with no issues with electric and good water pressure. They had beautiful landscaping with lots of grass and trees throughout. If I had the grandkids, they would have enjoyed themselves with the myriad of children's activities they offered as well as a basketball court, volleyball, horseshoes, swimming pool etc. They also had 3 adjacent lakes, but I could only figure-out how to get to 2 of them. Onsite, I also found a store with basic amenities + ice & fire wood as well as a 24-hour laundry room. You can also rent a golf cart, which I recommend for at least a couple of days. I highly recommend this campground!
I can't comment on the campground because we never made it there, but I'm sure it's a nice place. They cancelled our reservation a week before we went because of "ongoing restoration activities". They could have told us that there might be a problem to give us time to go somewhere else. I could see if it was an emergency it would be understandable but ongoing work seems like they just don't have their act together. They did offer us to _try_ to make a reservation at one of their other campgrounds and did refund us but come on, a week before hand?
Run down and poorly managed. New manager is very rude. There are better places nearby.
They are working on making the place better, and that earns high marks from me. It flooded, so they dug a drain. It started to smell like sewer after the flooding, they changes the main sewer pump filters. They had thirsty Thursday at the pool and gave out beer and snacks. Oh, and an acoustic guitarist playing. A food truck was next to the camp store on weekends - I only had breakfast and I was not impressed, but it was their first day ever and were swamped with orders. Saturdays they had live bands. The seasonal were all friendly. The biggest downside, for me, was the traffic. There is a bottle neck of golf carts, cars, walkers, and children on bikes around both the pool and the entrance. The pool is on the way to the entrance, so leaving the park was always an ordeal. Staff was very friendly. I stayed 13 days, the photos were day one. It was mostly dry after day 3 it rained and flooded again on day 3.
This is our second camping trip with our travel trailer. Our first trip was in wild rose wisconsin and it set the bar high. This is a descent camp ground but with the rain, there is only a small beach area. They strongly discourage lake swimming but they have a nice pool. We set up just before the rain. When the rain was over, the neighboring camper was knee deep in water. This collection of water remained throughout our stay and provided a chorus of intense frog croaking after dark. The children's play area was also under water. On Saturday night at 10 pm they had a golf cart parade which essentially was drunk people driving through the camp on golf carts blasting music. On the upside, they do have people that patrol the grounds. They brought the children craft bags with fun activities. The showers were free, generally clean and nice. Not sure that we will be back
Well, we had a reservation but turns out someone else was parked in our site. They spent an hour trying to figure out where to put us. The only site she offered was far too soft see picture. She has sent us down he road to another campground owned by the same company. Fingers crossed they can accommodate us a 5pm on a Friday.
