This resort is spectacular, the views from our suite 1503 was stunning as we listened to the ocean every night before falling asleep. Not only is the location a dreamy romantic place to come - the lounge food and staff are friendly and make you feel at home. Our one bedroom, pet friendly suite was seconds from the trail network and to Big Beach. We also had spectacular massage therapists by the names Tawnya and Lorraine who are both healers in what they do. We felt very special staying here and will be coming back next time we need an escape from our busy lives. Thank you so much to the staff who made all of this possible - we had a very lovely honeymoon.

The most luxurious hotel I've stayed at. Went here for a bachelorette and got a large suite for 5 people facing the ocean (separate from their main reception, although it's at walking distance). Outdoor pool is small, but there are also 2 hot tubs to chill in. They have a restaurant and lounge that you can go to if there's nothing else in the town you want to go to and a wonderful spa. Great amenities in our suite: heated washroom floors, large kitchen, fireplace, huge balcony, comfy beds, and more... If you want a relaxing and luxurious trip, this is the place that would be well worth your money.

The hotel is beautiful with a gorgeous view of the ocean. We had a two night stay, one busy night, one slow night. Both nights we had huge storms to watch that can be seen from the restaurant, the lounge, or from the comfort of your room.
The service of staff from beginning to end was lackluster and really sealed the deal for us. The restaurant price was not worth the experience we had (food and service), for the occasion I wish we had eaten elsewhere.
We've stayed here before for a wedding and had an amazing time (2013), great food and service. Hopefully the hotel can turn it around.

Terrible experience. Went to have lunch, but there was only a buffet. So far, no harm done. But the food was completely uninspired, unhealthy, cold, old or already gone at 1.30pm. They told us there would be more food and that they would tell us, but when they were finally done, they didn't give us a heads up. No one came to ask us if we wanted something to drink. Even after all the bad food and service, they charched us the full amount of 20 (!!) dollars per person. Nothing to compensate the big delay. We didn't want to leave a tip, but we were forced to because they already included their own tip. Just go look at the view and then run like the wind.

We planned a somewhat small wedding (32 guests) at Black Rock, and after emailing several resorts and going through a few questions, the response we got from them was so much better than anywhere else we looked. So many places book weddings on the same day, or even back to back, so it’s easy to feel lost in the mix, especially when you’re not bringing 150+ guests. From the very beginning, Black Rock stood out, from the location, accommodations, menu options, room prices, and the attention we received as a smaller group. Emilie was so easy to get ahold of, and was great at asking us questions and helping us organize the day, which was especially important since we were coming from Ontario and had never been to the island before our wedding! The staff were great with our family and friends, and servers were amazing as well. The food was beyond our expectations by far. We planned for four different finger foods for cocktail hour. We got four dozen of each, and the guests swore that the food was unending. YOU HAVE TO ORDER THE COCONUT SHRIMP, everyone was so obsessed with that one. We also got a plated meal with a nice salad, crab and prawn cakes (so good!), and halibut and bison short ribs as the entrée options. The bison were HUGE and amazingly cooked, and a huge hit. Our brunch the next morning was just a good. We did both the dinner and brunch in the wine cellar, which I highly recommend for an intimate and beautiful gathering space. The accommodations were so comfortable, and the ocean view was totally worth the upgrade.
