Bittersweet did our cake as well as sweets for our vow renewal this July. I was thoroughly impressed with the tasting process our friends subbed in for us and experience with booking. Our cake turned out just like our inspiration photo! Not only was it gorgeous, but the cake itself and all the sweets were delicious - we still have guests raving about how they far exceeded expectations for wedding cake!! : I highly recommend Bittersweet Pastry Shop for all of your event needs!

Bittersweet provided the cake for our wedding and they were fantastic. It was really easy to order a cake kit and taste the different combinations. The communication for ordering was a little slow but not detrimentally so because we had to use their online chat system. The cake was beautiful! They were able to design it how I wanted and hand make gorgeous details that I didn't know was possible. Most importantly, the cake was absolutely delicious. We were really picky because we love desserts and bake a lot. The cake wasn't dry or too sweet, it was a great balance and was the best we tried in the city. We also did a groom's that was easy to order and a fun addition to our dessert spread.

Let me preface by saying I DID NOT ORDER THE CAKE OR DEAL WITH THE BAKERY AT ALL. However, my mom was told by another bakery that they wouldn’t be able to accommodate my cake for my birthday anymore this year due to being busy. My mom scrambled around panicked calling bakery after bakery until she stumbled across this gem of a shop. They let her order with less than a week of my party and the pricing was not so astronomical like the others. While this is all great I haven’t even told you about this AMAZING CAKE!!!! Yes it’s beautiful we see the picture come on now! BUT every person at my party said this was the best cake they have ever had. We usually end up throwing cake away that’s extra from parties….but this time we finished the entire cake! I mean I just found myself scraping my Tupperware to get the last bits of that delicious one-of-a-kind cake! I had originally requested white chocolate raspberry but my mom somehow ended up oedering a raspberry lemonade cake…I’ll admit at first I was like ughhh but wow this hands down is my favorite of all time and I will NEVER go back to the old bakery! I’m also a puzzle fanatic and my sister bought me an awesome puzzle right from the bakery! Come on we are 3/3 now….!!! I will say the one thing that wasn’t my favorite were the macarons but it may have been that they were a separate charge but I’m telling you people the buttercream is so silky soft and luxurious I thought it was whipped cream! Idk how they do it but my entire family was so impressed they all want that cake flavor now. This is our new bakery spot for that delicious cake! Call them and order the raspberry lemon cake - I didn’t even know that I liked that combo but it’s compelled me to spend at least 10 minutes writing this review. *wishing I had more of that cake and sad it’s gone* thank you bittersweet for making my birthday the best! Keep that pastry chef if you know what’s good for tou!

Delicious menu and drinks! They were out of some stuff when I went and there are only a few tables, which means a while for waiting if you want to dine in which I would recommend, it is a beautiful set up. I got a mini fruit topped cheesecake and love that they offer tinier options for 1-2 people instead of huge cakes only. The strawberry matcha is more matcha than anything, but still great. The pastries are neverending and it's hard to know what to choose! Great experience, friendly workers as well.

The only thing I had an issue with my cake order for my sisters baby shower was that I asked for it to say “Oh Baby!” And they managed to mess that up and put “OL Baby”. I was upset and we decided to pick the flowers off the cake to cover the L. My sister was fine with it I’m just disappointed at this place service. I haven’t been back to purchase anything since then. The cake was delicious. I also bought some animal forest cake decorations

We have all been to weddings with dry cakes - this is not one of them! Bittersweet Weddings made an absolutely delicious wedding cake for us three tiers with chocolate mousse and white cake with ivy piping. Truly, very tasty. So much so that my husband and I got forks and dug into the cake after cutting it - it was THAT good. Cannot recommend them enough for your Chicago wedding!

My wife and I researched what were the best bakeries in Chicago when looking for someone to bake our wedding cake, and Bittersweet consistently showed up on multiple lists and websites, thus, we added them to our list for cake tastings. We did the tastings at a few different bakeries, but Bittersweet topped them all. All the different cakes and fillings we tried tasted amazing! The cakes were fluffy and full-flavored, and the fillings and icings tasted fresh and homemade as opposed to synthetic and mass-produced. Along with this, we were also able to provide an example of the design that we wanted around the cake and asked to be decorated with natural flowers, both requests which they knocked out of the park! I absolutely recommend Bittersweet, as not only did my wife and I love the cake but so did our guests!

A friend of mine recommend this shop to me and I was so happy I went. Everyone was so friendly and helpful. My pastry was delicious and the strawberries were so fresh. Definitely can't wait to come back.

My husband and I secured Bittersweet after doing their cake tasting kit, which was so fun & delicious to do! They were easy to work with & communicate with ahead of time, they also delivered the cake on time on our wedding day, it was exactly what we were looking for. It was just a smaller cutting cake for the head table, but it still made a big impact and was very tasty! Can't wait to come back for other big life events in the future. We cannot recommend them enough!

Working with Bittersweet Pastry was an absolute dream! My now husband and I loved that we still got to have a cake tasting for our -last minute- Chicago wedding, and could not have been happier with our choice of the banana nut with buttercream! The entire team was professional, organized, and really made this process and decision easy. Highly recommend!
