STATEMENT FROM THE DIRECTOR
Berkshire Art Museum is about the Berkshires and the artists who reside here, demonstrating the remarkable artistic talent living and working in our backyard. The Berkshires, of course, are rich in museums, but only BAM focuses on regional names. That’s the cultural niche – the void – we are pleased to fill. MASS MoCA, the DownStreet Art festival, and a vibrant artistic community make North Adams the heart of our county’s visual arts scene. Our hope: BAM will facilitate a means by which all Berkshire artists can more easily contribute to this energy.
With utmost gratitude, we extend thanks to our initial supporters: Barbara and Robert Bashevkin; Bona Marketing; Cire Corporation; Deanna and David Atwell; Donald W.
