The tour guide was a wealth of information and the grounds were beautiful. Really impressed with how well the historical society preserved this amazing peice of history!!!!

Who would have ever known how fascinating Herman Melville’s life was?! This tour was incredibly fascinating and the house and property has been so well-maintained. Tours are held on the hour. If you arrive quite early, you’ll watch a video about an alleged affair between Melville and his neighbor. Our tour guide had a slightly different take on their relationship which made for an interesting academic contrast. Only one other group was present during our tour and the guide was very informative and more than happy to answer questions. Thanks!
