Pork schnitzel dinner was to die for. I can still taste its deliciousness.nRooms not so much. Looks like building needs repairs, and it's being done. Staff's friendliness brings out joy to deal with.nFor accommodations I'd recommend Deep River Motel or Pine Motel.nThat's all. Sorry no photos.
Now if you are a “Karen” or the male equivalent, stay away from this idyllic little oasis of perfection. I have been in catering all my working life travelled a lot and even owned my own lodge and this place is like a fairy tale garden. Truck drivers off the TransCan, locals and old guys like me welcomed better than most families greet each other. During my diner, someone called in a takeout order and the waitress says “ sure you don’t want the Slavaki skewer too”. He did. An old gentleman turned up for the order, seems he had forgotten his wife’s order, AGAINnListening to conversations between obvious locals, this is the kind of place we WISH the world was. Not a single bad word about anyone, even the guy arrested over the weekend or the pair involved in some side hustle.nRealistically the place is old, BUT CLEAN, the food is good and I have some faith in humanity restored by my fleeting glimpse into how communities can, and more importantly SHOULD BE.nThank you Bears Den and Deep River
The hotel is mostly ok. We didn't have any issues with the overall accommodations. However, some of the, rooms are missing paint, or bits of drywall. The bathrooms have no exhaust, they vent into a dropped ceiling, which has me concerned for mold. Especially since the ceilings in the bathroom are peeling and clearly need work.nnOften we could smell cigarettes or pot smoke in the hallways, and consequently in our rooms. One evening the entire hallway smelled like a rotten dumpster, so be wary of that.nnThe restaurant is great though. I can't help but feel it's have a, higher rating if the restaurant wasn't pairee with the Motel. We at there a couple times and every time it was, great. Portion sizes could be bigger for the price.
This motel was very well priced. The rooms are dated but clean, and have no hair blower or coffee machine. The restaurant has excellent food, and a good menu. Reasonable prices. The staff were not overly friendly And could have been somewhat more helpful for tourists. Good value for money for a short stay .
Although the room was quite dated, the bed and washroom were clean and we had a good night's rest. Supper surprised us with generous portions. Breakfast was exceptionnal homemade bread and the BACON!!!, made all the better by the sunny disposition and welcoming personnality of our waitress Sharon. We would stay again just for the pleasure of chatting with her!
