Bay Street Cafe

The food was good. I personally enjoyed the mushroom caps appetizer. The blooming Onion was good as well. The pan fried pickerel was the only complaint from my table, it's better fried. I also really enjoyed their iced tea. Our waitress was very nice and fairly attentive. The only complaint is that dessert took a bit longer then expected.

Seated pretty fast. Had a really nice outdoor patio. Our server was pleasant and quickly were able to order a pitcher of beer and a glass of water. Ordered our food, no problem. After 20 minutes my order came out, but had the wrong side. The server just said "that's what I punched in". After a few words the server said a new side was being made and our water is on its way. Finally the side came and the bill aswell. The server finally provided the best service as we were paying. She seemed sour right after she noticed we left a $2 tip. Still waiting for water.

Menu looked good but couldn't get past the bitchy waitress. Our 10 yr old high functioning autistic daughter tried to ask a question and waitress threw her hands in the air and said "I'll come back to take your drink order later". We don't need snotty attitude from a small town waitress.

I literally just left this restaurant after the worst dinner experience one could possible have. I am writing this review in my car before I put it in drive to leave because it was that upsetting. The food was terrible, but the real issue is that the service that my family encountered was belligerent, degrading and forced me to leave a $0.00 tip for the first time ever. We were made to feel like an absolute inconvenience for our patronage. The bathrooms and overall cleanliness of the place was disgusting, which really makes me wonder what the condition of their kitchen was like. To anyone considering this option for a meal, I strongly recommend that you head a few doors down to Boston Pizza, or any other establishment, who would be happy to have your business. Terrible.

I guess it all depend when you find yourself there and the expectations you have. Having little space, they crowded the tables. I was there on Monday, after Canada day weekend 2017. Busy at the time. The waitress barely had time to breathe. The roasted pepper soup was good, so it was the fish and chips, but the fish piece was small, don't remember any other place to have it smaller. (I like fish and chips and I have it most places I go). I supose, like other similar places, you pay for the view of the bay the location offers. And as Geraldine said, nice place to watch the world go by if you're eating outside, but don't expect too much...after all it is a cafe place, not so much a restaurant.
