I am an international student. It was my first time visiting here. Nowadays, the price of groceries and rent are at sky and as an international student it’s so hard to live here. However, i have found the food bank and they are amazing. This place saves me lots of money.nTHANK TO FOOD BANK.
The Food Bank used to be about helping people in need, but now that prioritize international students who can definitely afford to pay for food - they drive cars with personalized licence plates over local people who actually need the food.nnThe Barrie Food Bank should be doing what other food banks have done and ban international students, but they instead cater to them. Two international residents from my building who rent an apartment and own TWO cars use the Barrie Food Bank, who let them take food away from the needy! Very sad and very disappointing to see this happen!!
Staffs are so friendly and everything is well organised. Thank you all
As much as I hate having to go to the Barrie Food Bank. They are all extremely nice, helpful, and have the best attitude!
First time there with my girls in almost 3 years and we are not impressed-but appreciative. For a family of 4, you get very small pickings-how does 4 cans last a month, along with 6 potatoes, 4 carrots, 2 apples, 4 choices of a pack of rice/pasta/sauce/canned tomatoesonly 4 for a month lol 3 loaves of bread, a small whole chicken, a small block of cheese, eggs, milk, a pie and cupcakes.nNo flour/sugar.The most that you can choose for 4 people is 4 tampons or pads. I roll of toilet paper per family. When added up, it doesn't outweigh the cost of gas/cab/taxi. Male workers are great, females in the back are rude when asked anything. Woman doing interview is great.nWe used to get 2 carts full, we got a half a cart, so disappointing, but grateful as well. It wouldn't be the 1st time I do without for my kids to eat. Is it the new management? Because we know what food banks receive in donations and in monetary donations-the news is great for that, thankfully. As well as monetary card donations and grocery card donations. Why are the people not getting these cards? The amount disability recipients receive according to our rent, we should get more help, for the kids at least.
