Nellos serves you cozy, lounge, family-owned restaurant vibes. The space has recently been renovated and feels warm and inviting. The ceiling has a unique pulley fan system which really draws your eyes up to the roof, while the bar serving area has been fitted with electric fireplaces across the entire counter, adding that extra feel of coziness. They play sports on their TVs, paired with pop music as their choice in ambience. I recommend booking in advance, as some tables are situated in front of the men's washroom, and are probably not the best for seating. The food is delicious! Each appetizer is best split between 2 to 4 people. We split 3 appies between 7 people, and I felt like we could have used at least one more. The main dishes are big in size, so you won't leave feeling hungry. Although the servers were quite polite and friendly, I felt as though their kitchen staff was short-staffed because our food did take quite sometime to come out, which is why I'm giving Nellos 4 stars. Other than that, I really enjoy this place and would love to come back to explore their menu some more.
Food: featured salad was great. The appetizer prawns was wonderful too. Such a distinct and interesting taste that it's hard to get elsewhere licorice flavor but I promise you , even if you dislike the taste of licorice, you will like this, I think it would've been even better if the prawns were seared instead of just blanched. The pastas were OK. I don't think they are made in house. The Brussels sprouts in the salmon entree was great, the salmon itself a bit dry. The cannoli was the BEST that I've had so far. The pastry was super crunchy and thin. Service: very attentive staff. Knows the menu well. But no booster seat or high chair. So not quite kids friendly in that sense.
Delicious food and a great dining experience. I highly recommend the salmon dish, it was one of the best I've ever had in a restaurant. We tried bites around the table and the lasagna, alfredo and prawn appetizer were all excellent. The staff were all friendly and welcoming. Can't wait to go back!
Services were great, friendly, and attentive. They've got a great variety of pasta and entrees that you can share or have for yourself. The food was pretty good, though I thought the cheesy garlic bread could use more garlic. If you like Italian definitely check them out.
Service are great, our waitress are very nice and welcoming. We ordered garlic cheese bread as appetizer, it has lots of cheese, but can't taste the garlic. Bread were very hard to chew on. Not sure if the bread is made in house. For main course, we ordered Belognese and Tuscan Salmon. Belognese, the sauce taste great, average portion and flavorble. However, the noodle seems to be bought from stores. Overall the dish is average, not as homemade but still satisfying. As for the Tuscan Salmon, the salmon is well cooked, but to the point that it is a little dry. Have to eat it with the sauce. It comes with the mash potato which it comes with the amount of entire potato I supposed. Taste were average with a little burnt out daily veggies, which it was carrot strips. This dish seems like a dish that's prepped by grandma, very homey. Overall taste average, not worth of the price though. Dessert we had tiramisu, which it comes with large portions, definitely enough to share with two. The topping cream taste great, not as sweet, but the cake tasted too sweet and cannot taste any other flavors like coffee or cocoa. Not sure why the cake had a taste of garlic as well. We also ordered a Blue Mountain Cocktail drink. It has a plum with lime and soda which it taste great. The atmosphere were homey and family oriented, not a fancy restaurant. However, we were seated at the main aisle, which customers and waiters were walking by most of times. To be honest, it is quite distracting, since customer came in as a crowd and walking by us. We were basically facing the entrance and next to the washroom.
Fairly new restaurant that opened February 2022. I was pulled in because of the high rating and the awesome looking pictures in the reviews. This place lives up to the rating and the food is their proof. Also, they have some of the best staff working here. They were all super friendly and easy going. We had a couple starters being a special, stuffed squid and also the braised pork arancini balls. Both of these were really good but, the braised prok is would be the top pick between the too. Moist and tender pork in a marinara sauce is a great pair that tastes great. It also has a crunchy outer coating that adds texture. For mains we had the veal marsala and the tuscan salmon. The veal, tender paired with a creamy mushroom sauce. Can't go wrong. Mashed potatotes? I probably loved the mashed potatoes more. So much flavor and very creamy. Seasonal veggies were very good too. The veggies were cooked with a honey glaze that added a soft sweetness when you bite into it. Really loved this dish. I'd also tried a little bit of the salmon and this was also really good. The cannoli we had was one of their special desserts and oh boy was this thing good. Super crunchy cone and the filling was light and creamy. Also really liked this since it wasn't overly sweet.
Made a 5pm reso for the Saturday via IG. Very happy that I did. By around 6pm every table was called for and there seemed to be multiple bday parties happening. Really happy to see it so busy. Felt like how things were in restaurants before Covid. The service is great. I'm not sure if they're the owners, but the father and daughter that were floating around from table to table are very personable. They took the time to check-in on us and to talk about the food. Now, i'm fully aware that the photos I took aren't the greatest, but I felt weird taking my phone out and I was also enjoying the food too much to even think about taking a photo before digging in. My girlfriend and I ordered the Mariana, Penne Luxardo, Garlic cheesy bread, tiramisu, and the special Panna cotta and Limoncello sorbetto. I would order all of these again. However, a minor change that I would make is the meringue that came with the sorbetto. I don't think it's needed, but I'm not chef. I also wish that they listed all their drinks on their menu. My girlfriend couldn't find the prices for their beer options and i'm not much of an alcohol drinker anymore, so I would have liked to see what other options they have. Would I come here again? 100% I would. Helps that I live across the street too. They're still a new restaurant, but I'm hoping they add a couple more options to their menu; particularly in their appies.
The chicken parmesan was outstanding. We all loved our meals. Great to have a new quality restaurant in SW Coquitlam! With out the signage, it took a minute to find the entrance.
Video Review on Youtube: Vancity Food Crew Bar+Restaurant Nellos . The hype is real. The food is insane, utilizing the recipes over from Rossini's. I had Shayne's Black Sambucca Prawns, an appetizer that mixes sweet and savoury for a truly unique experienece. The chicken parm was huge and hearty, chunks lf mushroom and rose sauce. You can choose the sauce and side pasta, I opted for the linguine alfredo and it was delicious. Its creamy and buttery but not overly rich. Ending the meal was the feature cheesecake, which was also solid. Come here to celebrate an event or just if you want a truly satisfying meal. Lots to choose from and new features as well. Recommended.
Came on Sunday night and was able to get a table for 5 no problem. Service was super friendly and the ambiance was clutch. Food was good. Penne luxardo was a tad on the sweet side for me. Luxardo prawns were tasty, didn't mind the sweetness there. Foccacia was standard, nicely toasted. Tortellini was okay. I think the bolognese with burrata cheese ball is the better choice. Parking is difficult to find. You either have to go through the Woody's parking lot or turn into the side street then alleyway to find it. Overall great neighbourhood Italian joint. Will come back again. Parking: Hard to find cause of construction. Turn into the side street and then the alleyway. Or go through Woody's parking lot
