I absolutely love this place! Initially I was actually drawn to this restaurant by their mango and sticky rice dessert, but their menu did not disappoint. We started off with their spring rolls, which they did not use regular spring roll wrappers, they used a different type of wrappers that was crispy and delicate and had a satisfying crunch. We also had a few skewers of chicken satay. The meat was still tender and juicy. For our mains we shared a Chicken red curry, pad Thai, and garlic pork. The curry was flavourful and the fresh basil had a nice kick to it. Of course you can’t pass on the quintessential pad Thai, which was done very well and I can taste a hint of sour tamarind. Lastly the garlic pork was nice and flavourful with a bite. Lastly for the star of the show, the mango sticky rice. I mean look at it! It looked exactly like the picture on the menu. Absolutely beautiful and I swear made it tastier. There’s quite a lot of seating and tables in the restaurant, but one draw back is it’s a middle unit so the only light you get are from the windows in the front. Overall we loved everything we ordered and went home with some left overs too. We will definitely be going back and trying other items on their menu.
My daughter and I were on our way to my mom's place and I had promised to stop somewhere and get some takeout food to bring to her place for dinner. I decided to get some Thai food from Bai Bua Thai. I discovered this place earlier this year and it very quickly became one of my favourite Thai restaurants anywhere. In fact, I'll venture to say that it's my number one, absolute favourite. The only thing I don't like about it is how far it is from my house. I wish it were just around the corner so I could walk there and enjoy their food more often! I ordered some Pad Thai noodles, a Tofu Green Curry and a small order of Coconut Rice to go with the Green Curry. This was my first time ordering takeout from this restaurant. All of the other times I came here, I actually ate inside the restaurant. The photos of green curry in a plastic container and pad thai in a cardboard box are the photos of my most recent visit which was takeout. I'm attaching a few photos from a previous visit as well though, just for a bit more variety and because...well, the photos of my takeout food just don't do justice to the restaurant! My takeout food was delicious, but it doesn't look very appetizing in the photos. Also, whenever I eat in the restaurant I love ordering a cup of their hot Thai tea. They always serve it to me in this massive, jumbo sized cup. As soon as I set my eyes on that cup I feel all warm and fuzzy inside! I just couldn't post this review without including a picture of my favourite cup of hot Thai tea. Other dishes I've tried in the past include the Pad Kee Mao noodles, and the Pad See Ew noodles. They never fail to impress me. Every single dish I've had at this restaurant has been packed with bold and wonderful flavors. Their noodles have what Chinese people refer to as "Wok Hei". It's a term which is used to describe a taste that you get from foods which are cooked over a very hot wok. I also love how they put lots of veggies into my dish when I order from them. It always makes me happy to see lots of vibrant colours on my plate! I recommend coming for lunch as they have lunch specials at this restaurant. Every time I've come to eat, I've come for their lunch special! It comes with an appetizer which, if I remember correctly is deep fried wonton if you're a meat eater. I'm Pescatarian so for me it was deep fried tofu. Oh...their spring rolls are great too. They are really crispy! Oh, and I was also impressed when I saw a small reusable silicone lid covering the bottle of water on our table. It's a small detail but I'm always happy to see any kind of effort towards being eco friendly! Service: Good Parking: Street parking, or you can park for free at the East Village Parking lot which is about one block away, behind London Drugs. Location: Hastings Sunrise
The Boys, Missus and I had dinner at Bai Bua Thai for a family celebratory event. The restaurant was not overly large but very clean and the decor very nice. The servers were very friendly and attentive to our needs. The food was very authentic Thai exhibiting aromatic smells and flavourful tastes. We had the Spring Rolls, Lettuce Wrap, Panang Curry, Pad Ga Prao, Pad See Ew, Pad Thai and Steamed Rice. We throughly enjoyed all the dishes and will be back to try others. Bai Bua Thai deserves a thumbs up!
Authentic Thai restaurant with very tasty food. Love their lunch manual with very reasonable price. Even have nice dessert. Highly recommend will come back for another meal
Love the crispy wonton and nice tea… papaya salad was missing prawn and pad noodle was abit sweet for me as a dish… it was tasty love that but I would prefer less sweet. It is a personal choice.. love the environment and service… they are very welcoming and nice… restaurant was clean..Recommended dishesChicken Pad Thai, Crispy Wonton
Small cozy authentic Thai food. Great staff, good value and very tasty!!! Always my go to choice when I'm in the area. Especially their Pad Thai!! Must try if you've never!
Did take out for Mother’s Day. Hot, fresh, and tasty. Portions are ok. A bit pricy. 3 items with tips was 51$. Friendly service. I would come back again!
Came here for takeout on a weekend. Once they opened at 11:30 there were already people sitting inside. I ordered the food and was told the wait would be around 15-20 minutes. Came back after 20 minutes and the food was ready just on time. I ordered the Thai fried rice, lunch special Penang curry with rice, Thai fried rice, Khao Soi noodles and crab shrimp rolls. The portions may not look very big but it was enough to feed 4 people and have leftovers. The crab shrimp rolls were the star of the show. The inside was creamy and although I couldn't taste much crab and shrimp it was delicious. The outside was nice and crispy and different from your usually fried rolls. I would definitely order these again. The Thai fried rice had a nice basil fragrance to it and was perfectly seasoned. They were very generous with the amount of meat. The Khao Soi didn't come together like shown in my photo. The noodles and soup were given in separate containers which I appreciate. The noodles didn't get soggy on the drive back because of this. The noodles were silky smooth. The soup itself was quite nice and reminded me of the Penang curry but the Penang curry had more lemongrass flavour to it. If I had to order again I would either order the Penang curry or the Khao Soi as they are quite similar except with different carbs. Overall, I really enjoyed the food I got. I would definitely recommend the crab shrimp rolls and their lunch sets. Very economical and portions are just right.
The greatest highlight of this restaurant was the outstanding service. Food was delicious and filling and came very quickly. Bathroom was excellent: all the necessities plus character. A great meal, a great poop, perfect date. Highly recommend.
The spring rolls is a must! Not overly greasy and lots of flavours with the dipping sauce. The braised pork was so tender and delicious. Very authentic Thai cuisine here.
