We had a nice time at Azhar. The food is Mediterranean/Middle Eastern inspired. For a table of three people, they recommended 6-7 plates between apps and mains. We had the hummus, potato pita, cauliflower, falafel, octopus, lamb, and chicken skewers. All the apps were fantastic and the bread was fantastic. The lamb was tasty. Next time, we may try something other than the chicken skewers. For dessert, we had a rhubarb and pistachio cake topped with labne which was really good.
Good atmosphere on a Friday night. Got the house salad first. The pita bread was thick and hummus was tasty. They recommended about 4 dishes for 2 people to share but 3 and dessert was enough. The babaghanoush and pita was my favourite. Servers were attentive and food came super quickly.
A had a great dinner date here. Lots of amazing options in general, and there was plenty for my vegan girlfriend to try. Our server was quite helpful in recommending plant-based dishes or figuring out modifications. The hummus and falafel were definitely highlights for me, while my girlfriend loved the roasted mushrooms. Ordering teas was an amazing idea, it added to the wonderful atmosphere of the restaurant. If you have severe tree nut allergies, you'd probably want to pass on this one.
Wonderful ambience: lighting was perfect, music at the right volume, beautiful decor, even the fragrance in the air was lovely. I ordered the chicken shish which was delicious, but damn if I spent $27 for a skewer and still left hungry. Also had a cocktail had pineapple juice, that was fine.Food: 4/5
Fantastic experience! Went with a party of seven, which required a pre-set personalized menu. It felt a lot easier this way rather than trying to decide what we all wanted to share. ALL the pre-selected plates were delicious. I truly can’t pick a favourite, but the pitas and dips are of course a must-have. The service and ambience were also wonderful. I will definitely be coming back here.
Fantastic food. Super light dishes full of flavour, everything complimented all the other dishes so well. The pita bread was also SO delicious, like eating a pillowy cloud. Loved everything here and can't wait to come back.
Delicious food and good vibes. You can’t ask for more. Azhar is definitely worth the visit Pitas: 10/10 — Best I’ve had in the city Hummus: 10/10 Olives: 6.5/10 - least favourite item Roasted Mushrooms: 10/10 — the tahini it comes with is next level Rice: 8/10 Braised Lamb: 9/10 — I wish the serving was larger Scallops: 8.5/10 however $26 for 4 scallops seems a little stingy Octopus: 10/10 Best dish of the night. The dish comes with orzo and a jalapeño tzatziki. Insane stuff Chicken Shish: 9/10 Halloumi: 8/10 Cherry cake: 7.5/10 Chocolate desert: 8/10 Drinks are solid but very pricey.
Good spot for Mediterranean food. Spacious layout with an open kitchen. The meals here are meant to be shared. The braised lamb, octopus and crudo were especially good. Would recommend for small groups.
Loved this place. The food was outstanding as was the ambience. We loved the potato pita and the vine wrapped feta… but the showstopper was no doubt the braised lamb….INCREDIBLE!
I'm a big fan of Middle Eastern/ Mediterranean food and I find that elevating or innovating on the age-old classics can be a hit or miss; Azhar is definitely a hit. I really enjoyed the fluffy fresh pita, the tart little gem salad, and the dense cherry cake. The mujadara rice was also very nice, and while a bit dry, the braised lamb was very tasty. Everything felt very hearty and the service definitely complemented the food.
