I went there not expecting much more from the one I experienced last year, but it was surprisingly better. The food was excellent, homemade, very tasty and with a lot more variety. The dessert, oh my goodness, never tried tarte au sucre nor a chomeur pudding so delicious. The staff was super friendly, and to finalize with a golden key, the owner at least I think it was the owner sang a couple of folkloric songs. Looking from outside, it is a simple wood shack, rustic, but I think this characteristics made all the difference for me, it is not a tourists cabane sucre like the big ones we see around with industrialized food that taste the same as the ones you buy in the grocery stores. It has its own personality. I highly recommend a visit.
Je n'en suis pas à ma première visite, c'est ma cabane à sucre préféré. Everything is delicious and at least, there's some taste to it. Not your regular bland cabane food! They even gave me some gluten free creton. A must in Laval!
This is far from the traditional "sit, stuff your face and get out" type of sugar shack. You're greeted by the friendly owners, you sit down and have time to enjoy the traditional meal. Food and service A1. You get more then just good food, the experience was great as we were entertained with folk songs at the end by the owner and his guitar. Careful if you don't sing a long, you might end up washing the dishes... lol. make sure to reserve ahead...
Well, it was my first time to any sugar shack but... it was ok... I was kinda expecting more of everything. The portions were so damn small...,like they were rationing. The live "entertainment" was all French but hey, this is Quebec.... All in all.. I was with friends so it was good.. I guess
Intimate sugar shack, sits about 60 people with the recently added extension. The food is quite good and not much is transformed, except the hotdog sausages in the mapple sirup, which I dislike. The deserts are delicious, so keep some space for those : another plus is the fact they doggy bag whatever is left and you can take it with you, it's the first time I see that in a sugar shack. The owner sings and plays the guitar at the end, and asks the patrons to clap and sing along. Which is nice. On the minus side, there are no playgrounds here for the kids to play with, they were all over the tractor instead, which is a bit dangerous. The new reservation system is Web based, it includes the gratuity and there's a fee. Be sure to have your group use the same group link, otherwise, your group will be split up. Also, if you don't eat cheese, please advise in the comments of your web reservation, as the Kish has cheese.
Small family own. Good food. Very nice staff. Really nice. We will fo back next year
