The Nima sandwich is juicy and tastes great. There were burnt bits on the sides of the chicken but overall it's one of the better chicken sandwiches in Toronto. The fries are amazing!!
I know it's covid but this was my first patio venture during the pandemic and I was expecting more of a restaurant service. We ordered Double burgers which were ok but we both agreed that the meat needed at least a little salt and pepper. They gave us the meal in a bag, like take it and go, the bag did not have utensils or a straw. A large part of the dining out experience is the service. Anyway I know it was covid and things are not 100, so all is forgiven and we plan on venturing back for the full experience. #blackowned
Food was flavourful, burgers were juicy and no sign of pink, only downside was not as hot temp as I would like. Also ordered the Nima sandwich chicken burger which was great tasting with fresh ingredients wish it was slightly bigger. Kelewele fried plantian was seasoned too perfection. Definitely worth another visit my wait was under 10 minutes. I've read others waited much longer.
The Food We’ve been eager to try Aunty Lucy’s Burgers ever since a good friend of ours recommended them. We ordered the Accra Burger and The Nima a limited time offer chicken burger, an order of fries and a coke. Then it was off to a nearby park for a Covid-lockdown take out picnic. The Nima sandwich was fabulous. The deep fried chicken thigh was hot and crisp and juicy - and not at all oily. And the toppings were super fresh. This is an excellent sandwich that we hope they make a regular menu item. The Accra Burger has delicious, juicy meat patties and the same fresh toppings. But we were a bit disappointed in the bun. The bottom half was already beginning to disintegrate when we opened the package and we got the order fresh from the kitchen and opened the take-away only a few minutes later and even the top half of the bun was challenged to contain the patties and toppings. This burger would benefit from a more robust bun for sure. In both cases we would order their house made Shito Sauce to spice things up a bit. This is something we would definitely do on our next visit. The fries were really good; hot and crispy and tasty - not over salted/spiced like so many fries are these days. And the portion is HUGE could have easily served three, perhaps even four, people - great value for money there. And while we’d definitely order them again the next time we visit we’ll order the Ghanaian sides: jollof rice and kelewele. Service This is a bit hard to evaluate during lockdown. But what we can say is that the person we met when we picked up our order was super friendly. The sense we get is that their space would be very warm and welcoming when dine-in becomes an option again. Price Total cost of our very filling lunch we ate a 2:30 pm and only felt the need to have a light snack at 9:00 pm! was $37.00, inclusive of taxes and tip - a very fair price for the quality and quantity of the food. Summary We’ll be ordering from Aunty Lucy’s again, this time ensuring that we get their Shito sauce to add to the burgers and with traditional Ghanaian side dishes. We look forward to our return visit.
I was craving a burger this weekend and a friend told me about Aunty Lucy's. They started as Toronto's favourite burger pop-up and now have a permanent home on Queen West. We ordered the Accra burger and fries, along with the Beyond veggie burger too. The Accra burger was so satisfying. Among the best burgers of my life! Aunty Lucy's does pickup and delivery and they're open from Wednesday to Sunday from 3PM - 11PM. If ordering is not available then they might just be crazy busy. I needed to wait a few minutes and then try again.
Delivery was delayed due to traffic so I didn't have high hopes but WOW - the crispiest tastiest fried chicken I've ever had! Burger was amazing, garlic sauce for the fries was transcendent. So impressed, will be a regular order for me.
The dips garlic and hot sauce were so flavourful, fried plantains were soggy but well spiced. I was a little disappointed with the burger. The buns were cold, the patty thick and dry, altogether lacking flavour. At least it wasn’t super greasy!
You are paying for overpriced McDonalds. Had the Nima Chicken Sandwich and the chicken was rough, seasoning was not good, portions are small compared to what you see in the picture, and the worst part was the sauce tasted almost like Big Mac sauce. If I wanted a Big Mac I would have gone to McDonalds. The only thing that salvaged the meal was the Kelewele as it tasted much better than the sandwich and provided a unique flavor with some resemblance of good seasoning. Otherwise I would not revisit this place for the price paid.
Got the Kumasi Burger Combo which consists of a 4oz beef patty, a slice of American cheese, onions, pickles, lettuce, tomato, Lucy's sauce, all on a potato bun with a side a fries and a can of pop. The beef patty was moist and had a nice beefy taste to it. Even though its 4oz it was a decent size sandwich. Fries were thick cut, crispy and had a nice hickory peppery taste to it. Portion size was generous with plenty enough to share with friends. A great spot for those that love burgers and fries.
this place is amazing!!! will definitely order again. burgers were flavourful, tasted like something homemade, and the fries were crispy and fresh. if you’re tempted by the grilled cheese, definitely order it, the sauce on it is awesome.
