The sleeper house was nice. I understand there are good days and bad days, but 4 of us experienced walleye fisherman caught a total of 3 walleyes, 2 saugers, and 1 perch in two days that were worth keeping. We caught about 8 small walleyes. The guides checked on us but never guided us whatsoever, and said they were impressed with what we caught. 141 ice houses that are constantly pounding the same areas, even on a huge lake, is not good for long-term success. Our first and last trip to Lake of the Woods sadly, this after we were so excited to go.
Sleeper House Review 3 Days/Nights This was my second time staying in a Sleeper House between 2 resorts in 2 years, so here it is. The house was clean, spacious, and comfortable. Was it a $20,000 or $30,00 Ice Castle no...but it was easily better than the last resort. They provide transportation and bait, which is a huge plus! Others charged just to use the damn ice road each day and extra for bait! They check on you twice a day. Once around 9:45 AM and again around 2:30 PM give or take and provided an updated fishing report lure, tactics ect.... You're on your own when they drop you off, but.... if you screw up and forget something, Arnesen's has you covered... Also we did catch plenty of fish but remember, it's up to you to use your skills and electronics to get them to bite. You're not paying for a resort to hand you a fish! They provide you the opportunity, the rest is up to you!!!
We have been going to Arnesens for 11 years now, have not had a bad experience yet. The guides, wait staff, office people are all top notch. I would recommend it to anyone looking for an excellent get away and fishing vacation!!Rooms: 5/5
If I could leave a worse review I would. We stayed there a week and rented a day house. Never caught a single fish. Not a bite, nothing on the vexalar. Just spent a week looking at a hole. They never moved us or offered in anyway to give us advice or anything. No discount on next time absolutely nothing. I would never go back.
Been traveling to Arnesen's annually for over ten years and the service is second to none up there. Great accommodations and knowledgeable captains!Rooms: 5/5
Awesome two days of fishing with guide Nick. Apparently Nick is one of the younger newer guides, but he did an awesome job of putting us on the fish both days. WHEN not if we go back we will ask for him specifically. We left with our limit, which Nick filleted up perfectly per the MN requirements for travel. We also caught quite a number of photo worthy catch and release monsters! We had an absolutely great time and made lots of memories. We stayed in the Evergreen cabin which was fantastic and very large!!! Food and drink at the restaurant were excellent. We'll be back and thank you Nick for making our trip TOP NOTCH!!!
Great Family Business, any concerns were quickly addressed and taken care of. Great Fishing and Guides especially Joe and Tim!
Fishing was poor during our visit. Great place nonethelessRooms: 5/5
You may not know that your soul needs to go here, but it does. Get there with a quickness... and do nothing.... except for what you're supposed to do. Rooms: Swordfish is the shack for serious anglers. They have a shack named "Blowfish"..... ..well..... three dudes in an ice shack named, "Blowfish" I'm from New Orleans; live a block from Bourbon St., seen a lot....so.....hummm. Pass on the Blowfish option...ulness that is your thing... then get on down with your bad self, your friends, and fish. Everyone is someone else is weirdo. I'll just say that I find it difficult but not impossible....
What an incredible experience! From the responsiveness of the staff on pre-booking questions through to checkout everything went smoothly. Fishing was supposedly a little slow but we had plenty to eat and take home. Great fun, great service - hope to do it again next winter!Rooms: 5/5
