Ari Sushi

We’ve been here a few times and it is by far THE BEST sushi restaurant in town. Reservations are necessary as the place is small and it fills up very quickly. Head chef Mike has experience working at high-end Japanese restaurants in South Korea and he is always behind the sushi bar working hard and greeting customers. We’ve ordered multiple items from here over time and everything has been exceptionally high quality and delicious. Their rolls are not our favourite so we like to splurge on nigiris. Ari is excellent and I highly recommend this place to everyone!

So it’s rarely this easy to write a review but this is flat out the best sushi I’ve ever had. The only thing that comes close in my experience are the literal fish market restaurants in Tokyo. Not only is the food amazing but the chefs genuinely care about your enjoyment of what they create. They explained each dish to me in detail and would even tell me in what order to eat each plate for best enjoyment. Top quality food and drink, a welcoming environment, friendly & quick service and an experience I won’t soon forget. Calgary lucked out on this one, bring everyone you know! Probably one of the best places I've had for sushi in Alberta. Chef was very kind, he comes out to check up on you and ask how the food is. The quality of the fish was very good, and everything was served at a good temperature. Definitely don't pass on the salmon and bluefin, but the highlight of the night was the special scallop sushi. It might be one of the best ones I've had as well.

I love sushi. Grocery store sushi. Mid level sushi. High quality sushi. After one time eating at Ari Sushi they went straight to the top for best sushi in Calgary. Easily top five sushi I've ever had! Not counting sushi in Japan For such high quality the prices are very fair. Just be sure to make a reservation because they are BUSY!

Wow! I did not expect our takeout to be so good. We've dined in at the restaurant lots, but was pleasantly surprised with takeout. Obviously it was not the same as dining in, but the take out for sure is by far better than most sushi places. They have custom branded boxes where they place the sushi inside. Amazing detail and quality. I recommend ordering take-out if you're craving sushi. It's definitely on another level then other places here in Calgary. We got the sushi and sashimi set special. Price is high, but considering the quality of the food. I don't mind paying the premium price.

Nicely furnished restaurant, welcoming staff, delicious menu, open kitchen to watch the chefs/cooks perform their magic of making your meal. Pros: Fresh ingredients, especially the raw fish sashimi. Open concept kitchen like a theatre where you eat with your eyes first by watching the chefs/cooks artistically prepare your food. Clean and well-maintained interior. Simple menu so the options do not overwhelm you. Tempura food done right so it’s not greasy or the batter coating does not shed off the vegetables/proteins it’s deep fried with. Exquisite plating and proper portion sizes so you won’t feel bloated/heavy/sluggish after your meal unless you order too much food. Authentic Japanese cuisine practiced but there are some menu options with western influences available. Booze available…very important. Cons: Small restaurant parking lot so you might have to park and walk to the restaurant on peak days. RESERVATIONS ARE NEEDED since the restaurant’s dining room is small with less than 10 tables available and a bar table/bench. Obviously you won’t be dining here if you have fish and/or seafood allergies as the menu is very limited with choices. Only one ‘porcelain throne’ for all customers and restaurant staff. Please dine at this restaurant to adventure into the tastes of the ocean.

Been to a lot of sushi joints including Michelin starred venues in NY/ Paris and this place easily ranks amongst top. The quality of fish and all the ingredients they use are top notch. Consider opting in for chef's recommendations as they will pick the most fresh fish ready to serve that day. We did have them pick a few and all of them came out to be amazing! Excellent service with highly attentive servers and chefs completed the meal to be an exceptional dining experience.

Went here first time for my birthday and I was absolutely blown away. It's an open kitchen concept so you are able to watch the chef making sushi and sashimi. So far this is the best sushi place in Calgary that I've tried. With the price range is not too expensive but the quality is really fresh love my tuna tataki. Staffs are very welcoming and friendly. 10/10

Gonna recommend this place again, love the food, service, restaurant vibe, service and everything. Need to book ahead of time as they get busy during open hour. We order many foods but they went to our tummy before it can reach our photo library. Salmon roe it’s the highlight of the night, freshest ever taste in Canada so far. Crunch, plum and juicy and the flavour just right. Thanks the owner complimentary two tamago at the end!

By far the best sushi in Calgary, dare I say in the entirety of Canada. Consistency is important to me, and every time I dine here, the sashimi is fresh and served on ice, and the nigiri is flavourful, and prepared very well. This is the only place in which the entire menu exceeds my expectations. Staff are friendly and attentive, and you need to reserve ahead of time as it’s always busy! Love this restaurant. Prices are toward the higher end, but I would say fair, considering quality of food is excellent.
