You go here for the sights, not the cabin. The cabin is rustic and roomy with a bedroom with a bunk bed for kids. A master bedroom with a queen bed. And a family room with a futon couch and cast iron stove it you get cold. There are a few electric lights, but they aren't really bright enough to see very well. Gas lights provide some additional light as well as warmth. There are no electric outlets, but they can rig something up for medical needs.
The cabins overlook Long Pond and there are kayaks and canoes available. There are also a number of trails nearby, one of which is the Gulf Hagas trail.

If you want to "get away from it all," this is the place! No T.V. and very limited cell service (Verizon works best). The Gorman Chairback has a main lodge where breakfast and dinner are served family style. They ring a bell when meals are ready but we learned to get there early, while the food was still hot. I got irritated at our first meal because people wouldn't pass the food! Lunches are a brown bag affair that you order at dinner on the previous day. By brown bagging, you can take your lunch with you on your hike or other chosen outdoor activity. We used the place for hiking excursions to Gulf Hagas and on-site hiking trails. We also had a previously arranged float plane land on Long Pond and pick us up at the dock for a 1 hour sightseeing tour. The lodge has kayaks, canoes, and rowboats for those wishing to explore Long Pond. Our cabin was a two bedroom (one queen bed, 2 bunkbeds) with private shower and toilet. There was a small living area with wood stove, futon, coffee table, and small dining table with 4 chairs. Outside had a covered porch with 1 rocker and 2 chairs. Very quiet. No air conditioning except what Mother Nature provides. Very rustic and you must pay a fee to use the road that accesses the place.

Staff are the nicest and friendliest people I've ever met. Incredibly welcoming all around. Beautiful location too. I wish I could give this place a 6th star.

"THE" place to go when you got to go. Quiet and beautiful. Great fishing, hiking, climbing, canoeing and outdoors. Wildlife everywhere! Loons, Moose, Mountain Lions, deer and foxes everywhere.
The staff at the lodge was thoughtful, very experienced in the North Maine Woods. The lodge and cabins were second to none. And the food, cooked and served at the lodge, was some of the best I've tasted in my life. GO THERE SOON! AND OFTEN!
