I've heard a lot about this place. But to be honest this place didn't impress me a lot. The beef and chicken samosas were really good. We also ordered the lamb mandi which had quantity and meat was cooked well but it lacked some flavour. We were also given Styrofoam plates to eat in rather than actual plates, not sure if it was a cost effective method but for the price we paid, would rather prefer actual plates but it's not a big deal for me. I'm hoping my next experience would be as good as I read in other comments. If you're looking for a great place to get an authentic, halal and delicious Yemeni meal, look no further than Monasaba restaurant in the heart of Mississauga! Their lamb mandi is absolutely scrumptious, with soft meat and perfectly balanced rice that is evenly spiced. The portions are generous and the ambience is amazing. You'll also find friendly staff, ample parking, and a great location. Don't miss out..
First time at the Yemeni restaurant. First impression the restaurant was very clean and cozy. The decor from the the front to back was nice and interesting. Before you head at straight to the cashier to order food, make sure you know your table number that you going to sit at. I ordered the Mandi lamb on rice, the most popular dish in the restaurant. The lamb was well cook, moist and tender on top of the rice which was flavorful. The rice itself was very similar to biryani rice. They also have sauce on the side with a little bit of zing and spiciness which give a refreshing taste and complemented the dish really well. Just a note, if you come by yourself, I would recommend order the mini size dish, the single size usually for two people. But if you are super hungry the single size might be for you ; Overall experience was very positive, and enjoyable.
I have heard a lot about this place. Today I finally visited it. First of all I have to admit the food is great. The decoration and the cleanliness is super. The only thing I don’t give 5 star is that the food so called Mandi is not Mandi at all. It is not made according to the right way. I believe they don’t have the barrel or the right tools to make it. I have eaten Mandi dozens of times and can tell from the first bite. What I had here was more like MADFOON and not Mandi. My doubt led me to double check with one of the staff: are you sure this is Mandi, he said 100%. Good luck guys
Too good. Needs no words of praise because adjectives fall short of how amazing the food is. Too fresh, succulent, juicy, finger licking goodness. The best mandi I’ve had and I’ve eaten my fair share of Mandi. If you’re in the mood of excellence, this is the place to go.
First time trying Yemeni cuisine and I absolutely loved it. This restaurant felt so homely and the interior is so welcoming. Their food is really tasty. I tried the Quarter chicken Mandi that comes with a sauce on the side. The meal was soft and fell right off the bone and the rice was really flavourful. Highly recommend this place. They also have prayer mats and a prayer corner so this will be a great spot for iftar!
Good Yemeni food. It's worth checking out if you have a preference for light seasoning and no spice entrées. Loads of raisins and fresh ingredients overall. Dine in area is spacious and well cleaned. However the food is served in plastic takeout containers. The experience was a little disappointing but I understand it may be due to the pandemic. I loved the dessert called Osh Alsaraya pistachio based, which was tasty and light on sweetness so great way to end dinner.
We had dinner, lamb was very tender, low spices from my perspective only although owner said it is the highest spice level. Chicken was also good. Beef dish was also good. Naan was fresh and easy to chew. Staf was very nice and cordial, they asked a couple of times if we needed anything and promptly provided service. I loved the mandi chai, the spice flavor was too good, i bought another one. There is a lot of parking but due to lot of neighboring restaurants the parking is limited or you may need go walk a few steps but again not an issue. Dietary restrictions: You can skip naan and rice and just order meat with salad. That is a good keto option and good diet for diabetics.
Ever since our favorite mandi place shut down we were on a look out for another, found it finally. Excellent mandi and flavour. We tried both chicken and lamb mandi and both were cooked perfectly and the meat melted in our mouth, their Sahaweq was also perfect. The staff was friendly and service was quick. Going to be our regular for sure!
We have eaten middle eastern cuisine numerous times but tried Yemeni food for the first time and it was sooo good. We tried beef qolaba, shahfoot, mix Mandi. I have never eaten a Mandi so good. It was flavourful and the meat was so tender it could melt in your mouth. Qolaba was delicious shahfoot was the perfect side dish to go with the rice. For deserts we had their kunafa which was perfect and the best thing was the sugar syrup provided separately which I think is a very good idea so u can control the sweetness. I would totally recommend this to everyone and will definitely visit again.
