We ordered the tteokbokki, the short rib galbi and the spicy pork bokum. The dishes were generously portioned and all were so delicious I couldn't choose a favourite. The meat arrived in a sizzling platter with a side of perfectly cooked rice. The tteokbokki were super saucy and the perfect texture. We enjoyed every bite. We did wait quite some time to be seated and for our food to arrive but we didn't mind because it gave us time to chat and work up an appetite. It was saturday night at peak dinner time after all and the restaurant is quite small. We also ordered the barley tea to drink with our meal as well. It was toasty, nutty and warming. Vegetarian options: Many tofu dishes available on the menu.
Been to Alirang a few times and will certainly be back. Sometimes when busy, the wait time is longer than usual, but to be expected of any busy restaurant. The food is amazing and authentic. One of my favourite korean restaurants in ottawa, highly recommend the Dukbaegi and short ribs.Food: 5/5
This was my first time trying Korean food and I am so glad I dined here. The food was fantastic. So delicious. Especially the Chicken Bokum- that’s a must. It’s spicy and hot. The vibe is great and the staff very sweet. :
Very delicious. The place seemed to be understaffed though and took a while for the food to arrive. There was also a long line up and customers who were unattended for a long time.Food: 5/5
Makes you feel like you're in a korean home. Food was excellent! And service was good! I will definitely be coming back!Food: 5/5
Best Korean food in town! Gamjamtang is always my number one fav. Tofu soup is perfect too when you are not so hungry. Service is always great! They are just friendly and responsive. Sometimes you have to wait a bit though, depending on the time you got there. But let me tell ya, it’s worth the wait!
EXTREMELY SLOW SERVICE. Just wanted to get that off my chest before anything else. To be frank, the food was delicious. The gamjatang, bulgogi and kimchi jjigae were all really good! The waitresses were quick to provide service and refilled our kimchi at every request free refills for this by the way. But, for a Sunday evening when the store wasn't even at it's full capacity, the wait time was simply atrocious to put it lightly. My family and I entered the restaurant and was sat at our table at around 7pm and we didn't get our food till about 7:50 - 8pm. And did I say the joint wasn't even filled!?!? We already invested enough time waiting for our food so we waited it out, but I must say... never again! The food was great but not worth the agonizing long wait. My suggestion? Use your time more wisely, skip this place and head to the many other korean restaurants around the area. Parking: They have a lot behind the restaurant. The entrance is through a small alleyway beside the restaurant with a small sign pointing to it.
Great place to eat out with friends and awesome selection of food! we got seated right away but the food took awhile to get to our table but definitely worth the wait! The tteokbokki was awesome and the spiciness was perfect. We got some shrimp tempura and dipped it in the sauce. The soups all came with rice and sides to share. Plentiful amounts and very nice staff too! Highly recommend!
Delicious Korean food! Service was quick and food was delicious. I highly recommend getting the croquette and the seafood pancake as starters they were also delicious the next day. The japchae noodles with vegetables was a nice light meal to balance out the heavy rice and meat. Would recommend!
This is a restaurant you need to come early. I tried coming here some other time during regular dinner hours, the line up was out the door, so that didn’t work out. This time we got smart and came right when it opens at 3pm. A restaurant that can afford to open only from 3pm to 8:30pm has to be doing something right. When we walked in at 3:10pm, it was already half full, and every table was occupied by 4:00pm. We orders two beers, Seaweed Salad, Bulgogi Bibimbap, Kimchijeon, Naengmyun, Pork Lettuce Wrap. Seaweed Salad was standard. Bulgogi Bibimbap beef stone bowl rice came out sizzling in the stone bowl, and it remained sizzling for 10 mins after it was served. We did put our ears into the bowl to listen to it Kimchijeon kimchi pancake is better than any I’ve had in Ottawa so far, it stayed its shape and did not fall apart when it was picked up, while it was made thin and crispy. I’ve had some other ones that were either too thick, too doughy or it falls apart on contact Naengmyun cold noodle, my personal favourite to balance out the spicy hot stuff that the usual Korean meals was very much justified in its own right. Usually it’s served with sliced pears, not sliced apples that we got, but I guess maybe it’s not exactly pear season in the middle of spring while pear is an autumn fruit. Pork lettuce wrap. I’m used to this being served with pork belly with skin on. However, this was served with some other cuts, I’m assuming it’s Pork shoulder because it was well layered, yet without skin. Initially I was a tiny bit disappointed as I am a huge fan of pork belly. But when i put it together in the lettuce with the pickled shredded daikon, the house sauceon, ans voila! It was a bite of heaven. Not only was the pork perfectly cooked, moist and succulent, yet with just the right firmness, it came with the perfect balance of lean and fatty meat. If I have to mention one thing that can be improved about this dinning experience was that it would be beneficial for them to have enough servers to begin the shift. This one poor girl was by herself for the first half hour until another server came to her relief. and then one more came another 30 mins later. This first one did all she could trying to run a full dinning room. Although she did forgot our beers, we could not blame her at all, as she was literally running around the place by herself like a chicken with no head.
