Story

Algonquin Outfitters has been in the outdoor adventure business since 1961 providing high quality camping gear and paddling equipment for canoe trippers in historic Algonquin Park. Our Haliburton store is a small version of our main store in Huntsville and it caters to the paddler, adventurer and cottager alike.

Call 1-866-kayak-0 to ask about our kayaking school at the Gull River in Minden or we can arrange to come to your cottage to teach you some paddling techniques. Check the paddling school out online at www.boatwerks.com

These guys in Haliburton are great. Went in with a small issue broken cleat ready to spend a lot in order to keep cycling but Cam, the bike technician, fixed the problem for free in minutes. Thanks again Cam and ALgonquin Outfitters.
Manager Hywel Lee and his entire staff are super friendly and very helpful. I was in recently to have the saddle on my gravel bike changed and the cable for my front derailleur replaced. Dave Paddock and Cam provided excellent customer service and I was pleasantly surprised at how quickly my bike was ready. I would highly recommend AO - Haliburton. It's a great store and I've purchased many items from sunglasses to snowshoes and have always been very satisfied. They're also a great supporter of our local cycling club and our members enjoy a discount on non-sale items!
We rented the 20foot bullfrog water carpet for my family last weekend and had a great time forming many core memories for the kids. Thanks for making the rental process super easy, and allowing us to extend the rental by a day during the summer weekend. Everyone was super friendly.
I am an experienced DH, Nordic classic and skate skier and I did not waste much time in my gear request. I was initially provided an old pair of skies with noticeable damage on base material/sides and side edges and no wax. I requested that I be provided a better pair with wax but was given an older pair again with signs of rust at the bindings, damage and no wax again. I had noticed that other renters with their rentals were leaving with gear shape and quality. I felt like there was something amiss and didn't request a change again.nnWhile skiing with this gear I also noticed that the poles were dissimilar and bent with very less rigidity and a lot of shake while pushing. I came back and provided overall feedback that the skies had no glide at all and that the poles were not a matched pair while showing the bend for which the employees had a blank look and simply took the gear away. I ensured I had a friend to witness to see this reaction.nnNo explanation was offered and they take full price for junk quality rentals. The customer service here is absolutely questionable.nnAt this point I left with the feeling that this store customer service and meeting expectations had a bias towards certain Canadians.
I Rented a kayak the past weekend as the cottage we were renting was short by one.nThe manager Hylel Howl dropped the kayak off himself and arranged to pick it up the Sunday we were leaving.nWe had a wonderful experience with this Algonquin company and will rent again. Thank you Hylel!
