This was the sweetest little cottage. We went for a girls get away for a long weekend. We especially enjoyed the beautiful view out the large picture window, the sound of the river and the relaxing hot tub! Highly recommended especially if you live in Seattle since it's so close but feels far into nature.

This is such a relaxing getaway in Index, and everything exceeded my expectations. The view from the front porch was absolutely gorgeous. It rained for most of our weekend away, but that was just fine for our group of 6. We made good use of the awesome hot tub, played lots of games, watched the rain fall on the river and the clouds swirl around the mountains. The house is stocked with everything from Cranium to Settlers of Catan to Monopoly. Both people who slept on the foldout sofa said it was amazing and the most comfortable sofa they've ever slept on. The owners were easy to communicate with and made everything easy for our weekend stay. The house is located close to river rafting, lots of hikes, and you can wander through the quiet town of Index right from the front door. I would definitely come back!

What a cozy retreat from the noise of regular life! The photos are spot on--this place is CLEAN and spacious. You can hear the river right across the way and aside from the train, it's very quiet. The front porch is a perfect spot to relax and drink coffee in the morning. Lots of amenities and friendly, gracious owners with fun tips for adventures. Bring a flashlight to find the place in the dark, however, as there are no street lights and since you're so far away from the big city it's DARK out there. Would stay again in a heartbeat and recommend it to anyone.

I spent my birthday weekend here in September and had a fabulous, relaxing stay. It's the perfect distance away from Seattle - far enough to feel like you're escaping, but close enough to hop out there for a quick weekend. The town of Index is charming, with a cute raft company that serves food and drink. There's a little general store, but if you need to do a big grocery shop, you can drive a quick ten minutes to Gold Bar. The house itself is directly across the street from the beautiful river and incredible mountain views. The front porch is the perfect place to sit and have a drink after a long day of swimming, hiking or climbing. That is, if you can get yourself to move from the ridiculously comfortable overstuffed chairs in the living room. Huge TV with several movies to choose from, as well as travel books & magazines. The house has a nice open feel so that you can have people relaxing in the living room while others cook, and it still feels like you can all be hanging out together. The kitchen was well stocked with everything you could need, and they even have a nice welcome gift upon your arrival! Both bedrooms have very comfortable beds and decent sized closets. Everything was clean and well maintained. All in all, I would highly recommend this home to anyone looking for a romantic getaway for two, or a small gathering of 4-6 people. I will definitely be back this winter to use it as the perfect home base for a ski weekend at Stevens Pass.
