"The 42-1 Judicial District Court is a limited jurisdiction court serving Romeo, Washington Township, Armada Village, Armada Township, Richmond, Richmond Township, Memphis south of Boardman Rd, Ray Township and Bruce Township. The Court has jurisdiction over criminal misdemeanors, civil cases in which the amount in dispute is $25,000 or less, parking violations, traffic violations and other civil infractions, landlord-tenant disputes, and small claims matters up to $6,500. In addition, the Court has initial jurisdiction on criminal felony cases for the purpose of determining probable cause."

No one likes a court and I haven't spent much time in courts. My young son received a ticket. He, with me standing by, called this court twice for a hearing date and they said they didn't have the ticket. No offer to take his name and number and call him with the hearing date. No other notification process for a ticket holder. They ended up having the hearing without him. I believe they intentionally didn't provide him with the date so they could charge an additional $40 for default. They also wrote a ticket for not changing his address that we moved to just 42 hours prior. The person in the office has to be the absolute rudest person in her field. Older, damaged blond hair with a fake tan. She talks over others and refuses to be helpful in any way. No compassion for a young driver who doesn't know the process. There was NO ONE else in the public area of that building. They can not claim to be so busy that helping a young driver through the process is a hardship to them. The only respectful and kind person there was the older doorman. I truly believe they have a speed trap and then have drivers default to make their money. Try not to drive through their town. Forget about going to support their local businesses. Beware.
Good luck ever getting someone to answer the phone.. on call 30 in the last 72 hours.. Clerks are rude and tasteless. Even made me standby patiently while they finished a gossip session. Typical small town courthouse.
They sent me a default judgment after I tried scheduling a court date for a whole week. If you're under staffed, increase your deadlines or give honest people a break.
This court house fully embodies everything that is wrong with our legal system and government agencies. Our lawyer was a retired 40+ Detroit prosecutor and said he's never seen a 'country bumpkin' court house so disorganized and inefficient. Our case was extended by months and with additional court appearances because the magistrate didn't feel like doing their rubber-stamp job that day. The administrative team is equally lazy, rude, and unprofessional. Even the simplest of questions will be met with distain because they actually have to work and not sit there and gossip. It should be a crime to work here.
Both woman at front desk were rude. I came in doing what I was told from sheriffs office and they did not even let me speak. I didn’t want to be there any much as them, all I was doing was trying to help my partner figure out how to fix his traffic issue. Unprofessional even from the first phone call I made and then the 2 times I went into the building.
they don’t care about how you feel. the difference between right or wrong. they are just money hungry.
Where am I at in my life reviewing a courthouse on on google? Anyways, I don't like the feeling of a conveyer-belt court system. Not necessarily just this court but traffic court as a whole. Hopefully you're lucky enough to get Judge Andary.
The lady magistrate gave me impeding traffic on a yellow light ticket that the cop did not come to court for and she let another police officer take his stand even though he was not in the squad car or at the traffic stop at all. She then dissmissed someone elses ticket for that cop not comming in..
I have never dealt with such rude people in my life, weather asking a simple question or in the office. They treat you like some dead beat low life.Don't like your job get another one. They are not for the people but for the lawyers getting money. NO JUSTICE HERE!
Magistrate Richard D McLean is horrible. He even doesn't listen to your case and dismisses your case without looking at any papers, any documents, any proofs ! Horrible...
