Stayed here for 2 nights in our SUV, cute spot with a beautiful lake. Clean bathrooms, friendly caretaker/owner. Felt they were super accommodating
Such a wonderful campsite. The owner is a very nice person she gave us access to the lake for only 5$. Good spot if you have canoe or kayak. Even if you don't have anything you can rent there or fish from the docks. Managed to fly my drone and get a few shots too. I was fishing but didn't catch anything but the lake was stocked.
Beautiful area with short and long-term rentals, settled in the rain forest. Able to pay a low fee to go fishing on their premises.
Basic camping, not well kept. $40 for 2 tents, 2 vehicles, 3 adults, one space, flush toilets but no showers A lot of residents there. And some very disrespectful children called our neighbour a "Karen" we had to google that and continued to harass us even after apologizing. Their mom made them after the caretaker got involved. We only wanted the boys to stop riding by our picnic table stirring up the dust while we ate dinner. We weren't asking too much. And later a child calling for it's mother after 11pm. Asking her to pick up her ph - possibly the same boy- he threatened to lock her out. No one stopped this child. It called and disrupted the campsite for ~15 min. It could have walk over to Mom, she was supposedly in shouting distance. We only stayed one night met a nice couple across from us with some lovely children that had to watch all this go down. I felt sorry for them. They were staying 10days.
Wonderful sounding owner who doesn't have much here for camping or much care in her operation. We slept next to the trash bins for 20$ night Garbage truck woke us up around 8am. People walk right through your campsite at anytime. In the middle of the traffic area where people leave camp at 4am. Its like the trailer park boys campsite. First night we heard stories from people across from us talking till 2:30am in panic sounding. Someone talking to there son about related drug deals and other people close to us with there problems non stop bickering. We felt in the middle of all the commotion. We had garbage and a hotdog left on our site when we where not there.. And other trash around.. The hornets would buzz by us due to being next to the trasg. I was in Nanaimo to rockclimbing. Wasn't the best place to rest. Busy stay home family's everywhere. We stayed 3 nights. Waited till 2pm to see a camping host who we couldnt find..then told by owner who was smoking cigarettes when she met us at 9pm to come tell us we have to leave and that other people have reservations in our spot next day.. She could of told us anytime sooner as we where around most of the day. This place needs alot of work. Bathrooms are hell. Water isnt drinkable. No power. SQUAMISH CHEIF campground costs 10$ and should be the norm for what is expected at a camp site. This place is run like garbage minus views.
So when I booked the person on the phone was super rude however I still booked 2 campsites at the same time. When I got there to check in, I was greated by a rude old lady that chained smoked and she did all her check-ins in her house so you walk into a wall of smoke so if you asthma you'll have a bad time. She asked me for my name when I told her she snapped at me and rudely clarified last name I told her my last name, once again she snapped and got mad that she had booked 3 other people with the same last name. She should probably figure out a better system. When I told her I needed to pay with debit she said she only takes cash. It doesn't say anywhere on the website, nor did she tell me on the phone I needed cash. Since only half of my group was there I planned on checking into both however she didn't let me. When I found out the other campsite she arranged for my other group to take it was on the other side of the campground so I asked politely that I could have one spot closer there were 3 to our already set up spot she said they were all being taken up. She lied straight to us and told us that they'd all be taken in that night the entire weekend we were there not one more person took those sites however people did park there. The campsites are small, close together and half of ours was a rocky hill the other half was on an incline where one of our tents literally touched an RV it was so small. It was obviously suited for an RV. The other campsite we were supposed to have would barely be big enough to fit our 6 man tent and it was literally right beside an RV as well, it was in the sun and again on a hill! When we did more walking around we found about 20 more spots that were BEAUTIFUL, and would have been much better for tents, that were more secluded and I would have been happy to pay more for she said it was closed off for forest fires, it makes sense but from all points you can still see the main campground and there's no actual spot to put a campfire. The prices were fair, for 7 people and a dog for 2 nights it was only $78. So IF I ever even try to book with them, which I probably won't, but if I do I will make sure I'm getting a spot from 29-54 as those are the tenting spots that she had closed off, and make sure if you get more than one spot get them close together. If you want to book with them be ready for someone who will be rude to you, try to rip you off and clearly doesn't know how to run a business.
Beautiful lake, wonderful people, very friendly community. Amazing view, excellent swimming as well as a floating park on the water, community firepits and public washrooms And as for this "vicious dog" that is "running around"... The dog is left behind closed doors and if the owner is to come down with the dog, it is kept inside a vehicle that she is driving. If you walk your dog into the owners home, yes the dog will probably hurt your dog. He is very friendly, and is only doing his job protecting the land, his owner and his property. It very clearly states all animals must be on a leash.
Amazing place, quiet, great views, excellent people and good fishing too.
Owner of campsite shows no sympathy or empathy. My mother's small assistance dog, Mel, was brutally attacked and killed this evening by the owner's dog. Mel had been my mother's companion and best friend for nine years, since my father passed away. My mother called before going to the camp-site to make sure dogs were welcome. There were no signs to indicated that there was a vicious dog on the premises. The only comment the owner had for devastated and heartbroken mother was, "You shouldn't have brought your dog here". With no sympathy or empathy for my mother, who was in shock, she did not even offer a refund for one night of camping or the $2 dog-fee. If this happened to you, what would do?
Great place to go for camping or day trip $5 buy in and you can even rent boats for fishing the people there are very nice as well
