Yokai Izakaya

5 stars for the service. Staff are very warm and friendly. Food was surprisingly average, maybe my expectations were high but some of the items weren’t very enjoyable. The sliders were too over cooked and seaweed salad was very salty. The sushi and jumbo shrimp were good, caviar on the shrimps gave it a nice touch. Overall I would have expected the food to be much more flavourful. But what made this place memorable was the service!

I like the location with the huge parking lot and the atmosphere here is amazing. Live DJ on Fri and Sat. The decor is very unique and each washroom has its own theme. Photo opp I love the drinks menu and a big food menu as well. The food cooked beautifully and each dish taste very yummy! The service is good! I would highly recommend this place..

We were able to come before their grand opening and was really blown away by the food, the service and the attention to detail they’ve taken from the washroom, to the menu, to the coasters was insane! Also loved the music they played, the place is definitely a vibe. The food was tasty and presented so well! I think my photos show more than I can describe. Can’t wait to go back to try more of the menu!

Saw a new Izakaya place opened up in my area & had to try it! Walking in you will be greeted by a stunning interior and friendly staff. The food was amazing and the service was on point, servers were very attentive & the food came out very quickly. If you are in the Vaughan area this place is a must-try! I would make a reservation as this place gets busy fast and I see why!

I attended the soft launch weekend of Yokai Izakaya and I was thoroughly impressed. The patio set up was gorgeous. All dishes were very tasty and plated beautifully with care. Would definitely recommend!

Food is excellent, servers and staff are super friendly, amazing options including pitchers of beers, amazing list of cocktails, and Kombucha! Owners always friendly and willing to chat and make the experience a wonderful time, spicy music on the weekend done by live DJs, and everywhere you go to snap pictures just amazing 4 different amazing bathrooms, beautiful tree installation in the front entrance and beautifully hidden details everywhere. And a huge patio which will def be a hit next spring/summer around!

The food are a bit too sour for most dishes. Cocktails are not bad but selection is limited. Environment is relaxing, warm and inviting. But wait till you see the restroom, they are really a piece of art. I won’t expect anything like this in Vaughan.

Very nice decor and friendly staff. Good food, standard of what you would expect and some with a bit of a fusion twist. The sauces were great. The meat was cooked well but the meat itself lacked seasoning, the sauces did make up for it but I would have liked the meat to be a bit more flavorful. The udon was the best dish we had. The Wagyu sliders were underwhelming. Parking: Free large lot

Food 3.5/5- Presentation was great! If you are looking to share Asian fusion cusine, this is the spot. However, there were some winners for my group. WINNERS > Sweet Corn Croquette - The flavor was yummy! The sauce made this dish. > Hamachi Ceviche - Fresh and citrus. We love it! This dish was a good palate cleanser. > Ebi Nori Risotto - The fan favorite. It wasn't too bold. The flavor profile was just right. The acidy cut nicely with the savory aspects. This is the dish I would recommend. ALMOST MADE IT > Gyoza Chicken Wings - The outside skin was better than the inside. It was a bit dry, I wish they used a different meat like pork. > Umami Fries - Honestly, just felt like regular fries you can get anywhere. It's not bad. However, nothing special either. > Wagyu Slider - Perfect for kids, but it tasted just like a regular burger. I think if the sauce was different or there was an added vegs I think would have elevated it. > Yokai Signature Maki - Love how it look but not so much how it taste. It lacked any memorable flavor. Service 5/5 - Top notched. They were attentive, professional and friendly. Although, we had a dog they were able to accommodate by letting us have him in a bag on our lap. Thank you! Our dog is like a family member to us. They gave complementary beers, which was a great way to start the weekend for us! Decor 5/5 - The Interior is one of the best I've seen. I love when a restaurant put effort into creating a theme and personality to their place. With a Japanese club lite aesthetic, it defiantly set a mood. The bathrooms each had their own design, which I visited multiple times just to see the details. Bravo to the designer and team! Overall, I would recommend to stop by if you are in the Vaughan area. I would love to come back again if they tweak their menu. I believe they can become a 5 star restaurant for sure!

Saw this restaurant under construction few months ago but now finally able to visit alone after work to try and its quite good. I however enjoyed Nome more but this place is across from my work and food was still fairly good and service was amazing. I really enjoyed the oysters, hamachi and the beef tataki. I probably would of enjoyed 48 hours braise beef alot more if I didnt order too much but overall a very good experience. Nice to finally have this type of restaurant in Vaughan. They are the same owner as Toro Toro and I must say the ingredient is very fresh.
