20/10!!! Absolutely delicious! The pork buns were huge and packed with so much flavour. The skin was even and perfectly crispy at the bottom. I can honestly eat them every day, definitely worth the price. The spicy sour noodles were pretty good but just slightly too salty. The restaurant was small and cramped.
Pan fried buns were good but not amazing. Bun’s skin was fried perfectly crispy, and the dough was even throughout. Good amount of soup inside too. BUT we found the filling could have been more flavourful for the pork buns, which are supposed to be a Chinese staple. We weren’t a fan of the cheese shrimp flavour, it didn’t have the broth and it was strange to taste shrimp in gooey cheese sauce inside a traditional fried bun. The scallion oil noodles were great. The pickled veggies in it helped cut the oiliness. I regret ordering it with the homemade chili sauce though, it made the dish worse. The sauce was a mixture of potatoes and really dry meat. The service was very friendly and attentive and the restaurant is clean. It wasn’t too busy on a Saturday morning.
A tasy small shop! The pan fried buns were fantastic, definitely the highlight of the menu. Honestly haven't had delicious buns in a while! The spicy noodles are quite good as well. You can also see them hand making the buns which is pretty neat! Service is quick. The atmosphere is nice with everything made out of white wood which makes for a nice theme.
Got some takeout pan fried buns and ate a few to taste test and took the majority to Mom. The pork ones with soup inside is very good. Mom taught me to make dumplings and pork bun from scratch without soup so my standards are probably higher than average since hers are excellent, but they are very labour intensive. They roll the dough by hand and hand make the buns. Mom approved and liked the buns, so that is a pretty good seal of approval.
Enjoyed the 6pcs juicy pan-fried buns shrimp-cheese, beef and pork and the scallion noodle. The marinated over-easy egg was also flowy and well-cooked. The spicy noodle came with spicy potato with pork, which was not spicy but tender.Food: 5/5
Super yummy pan fried pork buns. The flavours were authentic and portions were generous. The spicy and sour noodles were also delicious. Perfect balance of spice and tangy.Food: 5/5
This brand new spot is small, quaint, clean and tidy on the inside, but more of a takeout place in my opinion. I tried the beef sheng jian bao pan fried dumplings and found the price to be reasonable for the quality of the product and the amount of filling in each bao. Everything else I saw others eating looked great, too!
Fried buns as tasty as the Shanghai fried buns we had in China, crispy, well-seasoned and with the right amount of soup inside. The Wonton soup had loads of seaweed and were not too doughy, just like I like them. The cashier was friendly, even though he was very busy. Actually, the fact that the restaurant was so busy at a time when Chinese students were supposed to go back home for the Summer holidays shows there is a large demand for their food. There seemed to be some concern with keeping the table clean, and presenting clean cutlery and bowls/plates. There isn't much variety of dishes, but then highly specialised eateries that focus on one product tend to prepare and present that one dish very well three dishes, in this case. I'll be going back with a friend next month.
This restaurant deserves a 6-star rating! The pan fried buns are undoubtedly the most delicious I have ever tasted and the scallion oil noodle is a must-try. The staff exhibit exemplary service, promptly attending to our needs. They inform us of any wait times, which have never exceeded 15 minutes. I have dined here on various occasions and have to admit it is one of the best spots for a casual meal in Ottawa. My only complaint would be the limited seating.
Very reasonable price, especially for handmade bao and wonton - as someone who’s tried to make it myself before, it’s pretty labour intensive! Total meal for two people was around $40 for 2 orange sofas, 4 pan fried baos, scallion noodle with chili oil and the handmade wontons. Very delicious and filling! Can’t get this anywhere else in Ottawa right now. My only two qualms were that the place is tiny and the menu is small, but can’t blame them with how expensive rent is
