This was a great little neighborhood pub but it has sadly closed at the end of July due to the owner having serious health issues and made the very tough choice of closing the doors. I do hope someone comes along one day buys it and reopens.
Staff were great, food was excellent. It is how a neighborhood pub should be. Everyone knows everyone else, simple menu, but tasty and filling. They are set up for games/trivia nights. If you go, would not recommend taking a huge party unless you call ahead. Looking forward to going again when I visit Nanaimo.
This pub is a Nanaimo gem. It's located in a small mall near the hospital. When you step through the ships door into the wonderful, nautically themed ambience, the mall will be long gone as you head Windward into great food, one of the town's best selections of craft beer and other local liquor products. The wine and creative drink selection are HUGE. Better throw on a life preserver and take the plunge. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable about the offerings. Despite the seafaring decor, this place is no dive: You will enjoy being aboard this land cruise. It will really float your boat, set your sails and hoist your spirit!
Josh our waiter was the most amazing gentleman we have ever met. He was very attentive to our group. I would recommend this anytime to anybody. The atmosphere is wonderful and Josh has a fantastic sense of humor. It's a great place with fantastic staff. And by the way the bar food was phenomenal we had chicken wings and calamari and the most amazing Thai pork. It's a very friendly pub and Josh made our stay wonderful.

Just leaving this establishment, they used to have a really great bartender/waiter here named Josh he was always welcoming and friendly, we actually like to come here because of Josh. Tonight we were informed Josh is no longer here, and we get that people like to move on and go on to bigger and better things, but the new staff has some thing left to be desired. The bartender/male server I thought was wearing his underwear boxer briefs and the girl was intrusive and not personable and her wardrobe also was lacking in professionalism. So I’m not sure if we will be back, thank you for listening.
Food was delicious and the staff were super friendly and very kind! The interior decoration is cool, vintage maritime themed. The music was also enjoyable, the good old school stuff, seemed to have a range of 60s-90s content, I think. My coworkers and I had a fantastic time.
Hands down the BEST Lamb Burger I have ever enjoyed. The flavour is incredible! it’s tender and perfectly seasoned with a fab bun. Well done
Terrible food. Burger beef was unseasoned, smelled like it was going bad, gravy tasted like flour, fries were wildly undercooked and all of it was bland. One of the worst overpriced meals I've ever had in Nanaimo. Avoid this place.
Quiet place - at least when we went, a Sun evening at 7:00 PM. But i had a very tasty blackened cajun chicken burger one of my favourites on the Island, and even the steak sandwich next to me smelled so good, I couldn't help drooling just a little. Service was really good - waiter went over and above which I would expect when there aren't many customers in the pub. But still better than lot of other places.
