The Oxy Pub Occidental Pub and hotel was built in 1886 and has been a part of Nanaimo forever. It has been reformed many times and looks quite nice at present. In my opinion, it caters mostly to the local hard working blue collar citizens and the beer and menu are very reasonably priced but not the best. They have big TVs for sports and a corner with pool tables. It has a few parking spots and is close to a beer and wine. I mostly come here for an afternoon pint and worry about a late Friday night here. It's also easy walking distance to downtown.
The Oxy is hands down one of the best pubs in town! Great atmosphere, the staff all have great customer service, and the food is on point! Especially the wings! Not to mention best Kereoke in town ran by Todd who is an expert at setting the vibe. Highly recommend.
I have been here many times, unfortunately tonight was not great. My husband had wings the only thing he ever orders here, half of them were so over seasoned they were inedible and the other half looked like they had even been seasoned at all. Too bad
Such a cute pub with great specials! They had a burger special for $ 13 today! The staff was so fun! Fun place for an after work Beer.
This is what I think a traditional pub looks like. Nice atmosphere, attentive and caring staff, and today's Steak-Sandwich special was perfect. Great value for the price! Will come back for other menu items.
Normally I wound rate this place a 4 however tonight I was told kitchen still open . When the waitress came by to take my order was informed kitchen. closed . This place really needs to define when kitchen open to inform customers how to order
There was a birthday Karaoke night happening yesterday but honestly the place felt dated ! The lady taking our orders was nice !! But the oxy burger was mediocre. There were both good and bad things about this place so I'd like to say it was alright !! A decent visit !!
I went to the oxy pub tonight after the game with friends. I had 1 drink at the game then wanted to go out with friends and husband. The server wasn’t the greatest felt upset ignored ordered a glass of red wine and never got it then felt singled out cause there were drunk people at our table making a fuss and the bar tender thought it was me then the server brought me a different drink i didn’t order and said I drank too much. Felt ignored sad never again feeling so upset right now.
I am giving the 5 stars for the karaoke show. The bar tender, Donny, is always great. I haven't had food there for awhile.
Nice atmosphere and good service, the food is good as well, love karaoke nights on Fridays
