Story

Winchester District Memorial Hospital (WDMH) is a rural teaching hospital just 30 minutes south of Ottawa. WDMH has a 24/7 Emergency, Childbirth Centre and Diagnostic Imaging including digital mammography and CT scans.

We offer inpatient medical and surgical services, as well as day surgery and outpatient specialty clinics. WDMH is a hub site for cancer care, dialysis and cataract surgery.

WDMH leads the Centre of Excellence for Rural Health and Education - a collaborative that brings together the hospital, local physicians, long-term care, and health and community services. The Centre also includes education and research initiatives that drive quality and excellence.

My daughter came to this hospital to see a doctor as we have been in and out of the Cornwall hospital and seen her nurse practitioner with no results. It has been almost two months of different tests and no one can make any diagnosis. The female emergency doctor (wish I was there to get her name so I could personally direct this to her) was rude and exceptionally unprofessional. She told my daughter this wasn't an emergency. She also told my daughter she didn't have time to discuss her health issues and couldn't understand why she came there if she was from Cornwall. I didn't realize that this doctor is only able to treat people from Winchester. I wouldn't waste my time in this hospital!

Lovely staff, made me feel comfortable and less nervous about my first surgery yesterday. The staff in the day surgery unit are amazing!

Best hospital in Canada to have a baby. Staff is very friendly, caring, and knowledgeable. Facilities are great, very clean and modern, everything new parents could ask for.

About 6 months ago I went in to the Winchester Hosp. The emergency dept 's Dr.s are rude and unprofessional. I am 64 years old and went in due to numbness in my leg. The Dr said there was nothing wrong and I asked him to look at my leg. He said oh all right and stood there waiting for me to drop my pants. No lying down and no gown or cover . This was the most embarrassing experience I have ever had. I felt degraded. He then told me he was right and there was nothing wrong with me.
