The food, atmosphere and service were all impeccable. We started with a turmeric tea and the muffin and scone basket. We split the kale salad and it was perfect. My entree was the Berkshire pork croissant. The aioli on the croissant had a nice dose of truffle and the accompanying chips were crispy and the perfect thickness. My girlfriend had the omelette and it was also quite good. 6 out of five stars
Overall, the food is fine but extremely pricey and the quality doesn’t match the exorbitant price. Nonetheless, the Waverly Inn is a known hotspot of many Manhattan celebrities, and I think the ambiance is why. We dined in the covered back garden area, and it is truly beautiful. Our server was also wonderful, attentive while not rushing our group. Among the food/drink, I can recommend: 1 The Waverly Lemonade, 2 the free biscuits, and 3 the triple chocolate mousse dessert!
Boo! We didn’t see any ghosts that haunt the Inn however we did have some great brunch food and excellent service. The dark decor, breathtaking paintings, and crackling fire places transported me back to a different time in New York City’s history, and I felt almost honored to be eating in such a iconic place. Overall I would recommend and hope I can get back real soon. Hope this helps!
Go for classic American fare, excellent service and a clubby, celeb laden atmosphere. Think the West Village version of the Polo Lounge at the Beverly Hills Hotel. The food is just fine, but you’re there for the vibe. If possible, try to get seated in the back covered garden by the fire.
Great location, ambiance, and celebrity spotting. Service was prompt, but the food was average and did not match the price. We shared a burrata starter which seemed like a stingy cheese portion. We split 2 entrees, the cheeseburger was satisfying but unmemorable with a huge portion of fries. The Amish chicken and carrots were tender but the spatzle noodles and brussel sprouts were chopped into a soggy mess underneath. Cocktails were more well balanced than the food!
Appetizers and sides were good specifically the mac but I was sadly underwhelmed with the strip steak. It wasn’t as tasteful and tender as I expected. Other than that the ambiance is definitely intimate and cozy which I loved. Also, the service was 10/10.
Finally a brunch at the Waverly Inn! A long time on the list and a fantastic setting to celebrate an important milestone in a young couple’s future. We appreciated the recognition of where the best East Coast oysters are to be found—ie, north of NY Long Island—the Canadian and American New England. The burger was as good as we read about. Perfectly juicy in its medium rare cooking. The dijonaise was fantastic! We finished with a double dessert—ie the pudding was one of the best I ever had; and the chocolaty mousse. The choice went to a fantastic Munich’s classic Schneider Weisse beer. The Aventinus—a Weizen Dopplerbock Ale. “One of the best brunch place in town”.
The place is really cozy and in a nice neighborhood. We got a place in the terrace which is lovely and it is quite warm despite the cold weather. The service is really good, they were fast to serve our dishes and refilling our water. The wine list has variety, the food is yummy, the menu has different dishes like chicken, fish, meat, pasta and pot pie, besides that they have some special options for the day. We really enjoyed our evening at this place and it is our second time there. It is definitely worth considering.
Beyond cosy, American-Italian restaurant where you want to come back to despite mediocre service Food: excellent, although not all dishes are as great scallops and miso chicken, burger are nice. 4.5/5 Service: very rushed, Impersonal and misses finesse. When removing the plates our waiter didn’t ask whether we enjoyed our dishes as an example. Similarly for the check. The food and the setting deserve better service. 2.5/5 Setting: lovely, romantic. Inside spots are better than street outdoor seating. Garden has cost fireplace. I would come back despite the beyond mediocre service.
This place has been on my list for a while, and I am so happy I finally went. The interior is absolutely stunning and the food was divine. I will be returning!
