The building is an 1860s water powered grist and flour mill built by Moss Kent Dickinson and Joseph Currier, who together founded the village of Manotick. The mill was very interesting. We bought the delicious honey wheat bread. It would be nice to have more small souveniers about the mill. We did not go on Sunday so we didn’t see the flour grinding demo but I am sure that would be fun. It was a nice area and we walked around to see several bakeries and the museum. Great visit.Visited onWeekendWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNo
If you live in Barrhaven, you are not more than 10 min away from this beautiful place. For any casual summer evening walk, this is my go to! For kids, every Sunday, their mill actually works, where they explain the functioning of it, as per their actual era. We recently found they have farmers market here too. and Nov, they have Christmas markets which can be fun from impromptu visits!
A lovely location for an evening stroll, with the Remembrance garden and Veterans’ Way beside it, dam behind, and the heart of Manotick a few steps away. Such a beautiful stone building, and the setting - with trees towering all around and a river flowing by - is unbeatable.Visited onWeekday
First time visit. Unfortunately we're not able see the millers in action which only happens on Sunday for couple of hours. Beautiful location. Very nicely maintained. Staff very courteous and looks very lovely in medieval costumes. Had a nice walk around the dam.Visited onWeekendWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNo
Went out to Manitick today and visited Watson's Mill. There were displays with the history of the mill. The grounds and parks nearby were nicely kept. I can see how people would enjoy the mill and area around. The people in the mill didn't say much. However, when I asked a question, they were quite nice.
Beautiful full of history and beautiful view . The staff are amazing very friendly very helpful and they answer all your questions. The town is not very far from Ottawa like 40 min nice walk around and few restaurants. Would be nice couple of hours to spend there but I wouldn’t plan a full day . The entrance is free and they have have a shop.
Great place to visit in order to see wheat ground by traditional methods into flour. Boutique with wonderful bread and other tasty items seasonally. Great village like atmosphere and scenic location.
Very nice place to visit. Its a big four story mill. And it is free, with ample free parking available. It has still it's old machinery working and grinding seeds to make flour. To see the entire operation is fascinating, from old but powerful water run turbines in the basement to all the gears and belts moving the grinding stone and grinding seeds. You can buy bread made of this flour. Opposite to this place is Dickinson House Museum which is also well preserved.
Interesting Mill that has been converted to a museum especially the bottom floor where you can see how the river powered the wheels and gears involved in the milling process
We visited the Dickerson House and Mill. Lovely gardens and very friendly staff.
