Viet Family is a new family-run, all-vegan Vietnamese restaurant in Vancouver. I’ve only been here once so far with a small group of people who wanted to share a few things, and while I wasn’t wowed by every dish on our first visit, I did leave satisfied and full enough to want to return to try their soups. The Lemongrass Chicken was the favourite out of all the things we ordered, followed by the Summer Roll. The other items we ordered Mushroom Beef, Brussel Sprouts, and Dumplings were just OK; nothing groundbreaking/legendary to brag about. One thing to note though is that while their menu states animal names, their proteins are all actually soy based; no animal meat is served here. I will be returning to try out their soups and may be revising this review in future.
This place surprised me with how good it was. The vegan beef pho’s broth was very flavourful and had a meaty taste to it. Of course you could tell the beef wasn’t real, but it pairs well with the vinegar sauce and tasted pretty good. This would definitely satisfy vegans who miss pho. I do wish they had given you the typical bean sprouts, lemon, etc toppings. The soup was also a bit on the oilier side, but not too bad. The spareribs flavour reminded me of honey garlic pork, it was super good. I like how they used purple rice over white and it was definitely needed because the sauce is a bit on the saltier side. Flavour packs a punch! Overall, the food was good and I love how everything was vegan without feeling like you’re missing something. Portion size was good and price was reasonable. I’d definitely come back and recommend you come here as a great vegan Vietnamese option!
Delicious and friendly new vegan Vietnamese on the Drive! We’ve been here three times already and heartily recommend it. The tofu bowl is as great as everyone says. But we’ve tried several dishes and they were all yummy!
Best vegan pho! Best Vietnamese food in Vancouver really loved the lemongrass chicken as well. So grateful we found this place. Will definitely recommend to others and come back.
For those who are vegan lover, you must try this place, Asian vegan food, particularly Vietnamese Cuisine style. We ordered few dishes and all of them were Amazing. I would recommended Tofu bowl and peach tea, the bowl is excellent fusion and well-mixtured fresh veggie and toppings. Now i know the option to eat vegan in Vancouver restaurant. I would definitely recommend for my vegetarian friends, also option for converting my meat-lover friends to eat healthy food.
Very nice decor and comfortable space to eat. This vegan restaurant just open recently and they have 20% discount for their grand opening I forgot to ask when it ends. Our friend recommend this restaurant so we come and try it out today. We ordered Fried Dumpling, Special Tofu Bowl, Caramel Spare Rib Spice. The food is very delicious, I like their purple sticky rice a lot. Tofu Bowl is very flavourful too. The chef recommend Phở for our next time, he said Pho and Curry Laska Noodle are his special dishes. I want to order Viet Milk Coffee and Peach tea to try but they are out of stock. I guess these items must be popular. I'll try it next time.
Tired the pho, fried cauliflower, lemongrass chicken, and Vietnamese iced coffee which were all good. No bean sprouts or usual additional toppings came with the pho which was too bad, the garlic chilli oil that came on the side was incredible. Unsure if they use organic tofu in their dishes, which would make it better. Quite a small interior and someone was wearing a strong fragrance which definitely took away from the ambience and ability to enjoy the food. Would definitely come back again
Second time eating here and it’s absolutely worth every penny! Great flavorful vegan food, reasonable prices and lovely staff. We tried the veggie rolls, the brussel sprouts, the “beef” Pho ask for sprouts/lime on the side, the bun saigon, lemongrass chickn and the caramel spare rib spice…every dish was delightful. Oh and they even offered us a papaya salad to taste…coming soon on the menu. Thanks Viet Family :
Our first time trying out and we were not disappointed! Our service was amazing. We ordered the spring rolls, Pad Thai and beef pho. Completely exceeded our expectation and we are looking forward to going back and trying more off the menu. Vegetarian options: All vegan!
Cảm ơn As a vegan and avid lover of asian cuisine, I had to jump on the opportunity of a fully vegan vietnamese joint. However, the Phở Chay really lacked any flavor or authenticity and wasn't even served with basic mint, chillis and beansprouts condiments.. I tried to add some flavor through the chilli oil and ended up just being tremendously greast overall. Iv had a lot of Phở and this really didn't do much for me at all Unfortunately. Whilst I don't actively look for mock meats, the imitation beef wasn't bad and a there was a fair amount of tofu. It was also quite difficult to eat as it had huge slices of Pak Choi cut in a very peculiar method and a splash fest. We also shared a Veggie Roll which was pretty yummy, but fairly overpriced when considering it's one spring roll cut into four pieces. The food also came super quick and at the time made me even think that there was a lack of care, effort and attention to detail. Unfortunately this joint was a huge overhype for me and I hate to give a non-positive review but have to be honest. Support local businesses!
