Victoria, yes this is a beautiful city, BUT you clearly have a long way to go in terms reconciliation! You think THIS sign is appropriate? Seriously….. give your heads a shake! I will gladly accept an invitation to come down and school you on the many reasons why this sign is inappropriate…. Do better!!
Victoria is a nice place where to spend a day walking around taking picture and looking at the nice wharf. You can find people playing music around and some interesting shop. Quite incredible you can find cannabis shop open along the street apparently the smoking of cannabis is legal in this area of Canada! which is quite surprising considering the tenor of the town. However in summary a nice day.
Beautiful building in Victoria downtown. I can’t believe that this is government place. Romantic architecture!
Votes early. Staff are great. Moved quickly. Well done.
I’ve grown up in this city but it’s become a disgrace and a shame, with particular shame for City Hall Staff. Do you have a messed up downtown Victoria story too? Sharing that I am boycotting downtown Victoria. I was in a parkade in the dark by myself, turned the corner to find myself within a meter of a man with a foot long dagger held straight up in the air. Ran away and found Security but they didn’t confiscate his weapon. Witnessed a bike being stolen and had to turn and hide because the man noticed me noticing him and I was afraid he’d come after me. My female friend was chased and threatened for blocks by a man having a meltdown. When I called about a parking ticket review and explained I always pay for parking and tickets the “service” rep suggested I must’ve been lying and cut me off. Was very rude and unprofessional. I’ve found needles in the parks and even saw a man with his lower half exposed and doing things to himself across from South Park elementary school. I’ve had enough. My thoughts with the business owners but I can’t go there anymore.
As both a tax-paying resident and business owner in the Downtown core I feel that the city has inadequate handle on the homeless and transient population. Tourists and customer do not feel safe or comfortable in the area.
Uncommunicative, Disobey bylaws for their own gain, like to make up more taxes, love pushing LGBT and feminist agenda to look good, can't afford paint for crosswalks near schools but have all the colors to rainbow and art existing ones up. Take away a staple of free sunday street parking down town so kids get free bus passes when obesity is growing they get them wheels.
Keep your parking receipt for the Shady "Parking Ambassador" I visited Victoria for the first time and will be the last time and paid for 1 hour parking at 12:41 PM on July 3rd, 2019. We got back to the car and found a parking ticket timed at 12:43 PM. Fortunately, we kept our receipt and contested the ticket. They canceled the ticket but offered no apology for the inconvenience of contesting the ticket. I never thought Victoria is cash trapped and had to resort to such shady method of raising funds. Had they asked nicely of their American visitors, we would have gladly donated to the Victoria city that 20 CANADIAN DOLLARS or even 20 US Dollars.
A very beautiful, clean and safe city. Friendly locals and lots to do. Be careful parking though - not from petty thefts but from the City's way overzealous parking enforcment. Victoria budgets for tens of millions of dolllars each year from parking fines and will ticket you for everything from being an inch into a yellow curb area to turning your wheels into the curb when the street is "level".
Rude uncooperative staff. Do not pay your property taxes here unless you enjoy being belittled with condescending language. What part of customer service do they not understand? The people at the service counter should all be fired.
