I'm giving this restaurant 1 star for seating me quickly and 1 star for the duck I ordered which tasted great. However, the prices are way too much for what you get. As soon as I walked in around lunchtime and was seated, I was asked if I'd like some Chinese tea. I said sure as I thought this was complimentary like at all the other Chinese restaurants I've been to over the years (and I've been to A LOT). Sat down and started drinking the tea and then was given a menu and noticed at the bottom in fine print that the tea was $1.75. I was craving BBQ duck and rice my favorite but no lunch option, just a single order for $15.99 which did not include rice or veggies and was a quarter bird not half. So I ordered a side of steamed rice, usually around a $1-$1.50 anywhere else but here $2.80. The duck came out first and no rice for another 10-15 mins. Had to flag down the waiter to remind him. I ordered a 7UP as well. So my order with 15% tip came to $27.82. Will not return.

This is a poor choice to go to to spend your hard earned money in. Your first clue is that absolutely nothing is in English or even in French (which is against Canadian constitutional law) anywhere at this location. The older male gentleman inside gasping a couple of menus, finally turned around and noticed me in the entrance to the restaurant giving me a blank stare and promptly turned his back on me without a greeting nor any sign of interest in my possible patronage. It only took me a couple of minutes to realize that my "kind" wasn't needed as a customer. These people must have the impression that people like myself aren't necessary to their livelihoods due to an ample patronage by those like themselves, and perhaps have the conviction and their apparent reason to put up with anyone other than those who are already familiar with their own ways and cultural language are unwelcome and unnessary as clients. On a legal level this only leads to beg the question: who is ignoring this posturing smacking of favoritism by neglect orignorance of the national requirements applicable to all other businesses (I have lived and traveled widely across Canada as well as many other countries) yet I have never seen such blatant in your face disregard for the inclusion of the myriad of other cultures living here happily supporting and sharing their background with the rest of the population. That's the country we're used to. Furthermore this restaurant is tucked away in the back of the Royal Bank building on Melville Street and there is no indication of it on West Georgia Street. So, if you go, it seems that you'd be wise to arrive there with an Asian friend (as I'm sure we all have and happily) to be able to at least read the signs at either entrance not to mention their menu. Do you want to experience what it is like to be unwelcomed then go there. Remember there are many Chinese restaurants in Vancouver's Chinatown operated by friendly, talented Chinese-Canadians with family recipes for you to enjoy and you're not going to be sitting in a large open-roof room which reminds us of a car showroom with white tablecloths. This restaurant also doesn't have any special designation permitting conduct such as this for any official reason.

I enjoyed my Dim Sum - will go here again

mediocre dimsum for a high price. i went there because i was craving dimsum and this was the closest one near my office. Bad choice... i can usually get at least 2 dim sum plates elsewhere for this price. I would never visit this place again unless someone tells me they will drop dead if they dont have dimsum right away in this neighborhood. i think they jacked up the price because of the location. There are so many other good options nearby if you don't confine yourself to dim sum
