I had to do pre op tests today at the Verdun Hospital, my first visit here. I must say I was incredibly impressed by how friendly the staff were. They are totally bilingual and ready to serve in the language of your preference. Not only that but they are very well organized and efficient. I could not have hoped for a better experience.
Our experience at Verdun Hospital was extremely upsetting. My father went to the hospital because of a serious leg infection. After being transferred from Lachine Hospital, his leg was examined and he was taken for an X-ray. Shortly after, we were told that he needed to be taken to the operating room for an emergency amputation.nnAlthough other options were mentioned, we were told that amputation was the only procedure that would work. My father was not comfortable with such a life-changing decision and chose to decline the procedure. He signed the necessary papers confirming his decision.nnAfter that, we felt that our decision was not being respected. We were repeatedly questioned about why we did not want to proceed, and we felt pressured to change our minds. Instead of feeling supported and having a calm conversation by the workers, we felt like we were being pushed and spoken to harshly. The surgeon, doctors, and one nurse raised their voices at us during an already extremely stressful and emotional situation.nnMy father stayed in the hospital for two days receiving IV antibiotics. During this time, we felt that the focus was mainly on convincing him to agree to the procedure rather than supporting us through the decision-making process. Eventually, because of the way we were treated and the amount of pressure we felt, we decided to leave.nnWe went to another hospital for a second opinion. The medical team there told us they did not agree with Verdun Hospital’s assessment and provided a different treatment plan that did not involve amputating my father’s leg. This was shocking for our family because we had been told at Verdun Hospital that amputation was the only option.nnThis experience was traumatic for our family. Patients and their loved ones deserve compassion, respect, and clear communication, especially when facing life-changing medical decisions. Based on our experience, we would not recommend Verdun Hospital.
The worst hospital in Montreal! The aftercare from surgery is disgusting and inhumane. Rooms aren’t up kept. Blood on floors and toilet etc. Nurses don’t know how to administer IV’s. They’ve blown multiple veins. In a 24 hour span I’ve been poked 12 times, from blowing veins multiple times trying to collect blood samples. Nurses treat you like garbage and they’re extremely rough. Threaten to take your phone if you complain regarding patient care and call security to your room while being undressed. Security refuses to let you close the door/curtain to get dressed. Two male security guards. No compassion whatsoever at this hospital! Partners aren’t allowed to stay with you after an emergency surgery. They get escorted out by security like animals. Instead of trying to help a scared and overwhelmed patient the nurses stand outside the door laughing with colleagues watching. Avoid this hospital at all costs! Attached are just some of the photos from the “care” in Verdun hospital. Do better!!!
Went with boyfriend to check for ear pain at 12 a.m, left at 7 a.m. Not clean. Not good patient-doctor-nurse attention. Slow.nnWhen doing triage, nurse checked the patient’s ear and hurt his ear which shortly after led to an ear bleeding. Waited 6.5 hours so that the doctor says that the bleeding was caused by something else and nothing can be done at the moment. The doctor said they suspected it was an eardrum perforation. No antibiotics, no pain killers provided, just the verbal you have to wait a few days see what happens.nnBathroom was disgusting. Overall smell of the room nasty. Only a few people in the waiting room but waited 6h50 mins for a 5 min talk with the doctor. The worse part was feeling like the doctor did not take us seriously and laughed it off with good luck.
I had an MRI done with Ashlee, and I couldn’t have asked for a better experience. As someone who tends to feel anxious, I really appreciated how patient and reassuring she was. She explained everything to me in detail and made sure I felt comfortable throughout the entire process. Thank you !
