We were lucky to find a great veterinary hospital so close to our home, and even more fortunate to find one with veterinarians that treat exotic pets, since we currently have three guinea pigs. Dr. Duke made me feel so at ease and explained our treatment options with consideration to budget restraints and compassion towards the shyest and most skittish of our trio. This place is a wonderful option for your furry friends. The location is also easy to find just off Bowen Road and has a sizeable parking lot. Hats off to the staff for a great, stress-free first visit!
Would not recommend this vet clinic to anybody! Complete rip off. I was charged for things that I was not told about upfront. I’ve had my dog in for the same treatments at my usual vet in the mainland and charged half the price for exact same service! $170 at my vet compared to $350 here!! The brunette lady was extremely rude and arrogant when I explained the usual cost. As I read through the other reviews and it seems it’s an ongoing trend with this woman. I would not suggest bringing your pet through the doors of this clinic!
I was 15 min late for my pre-paid appointment and it is very upsetting that the vet can not take a quick look at my pets skin or if not enough time at least open the door to have a 2 minute conversation with me before the next client to reassure me my pet should be ok or give any advice to me about what I can do since my pet will not be able to be seen now.. Not very affordable or accommodating to their clients. Bad customer service. 100$ for 15 minutes is also very pricey for low income especially for receiving no services. - A very sad client that has brought my pets here several times and will not be back… Paris Johnson
They don’t offer help if it’s within 30 minutes of closing time, regardless of the fact that it’s a physical injury that is the point of concern. I’m not sure what the heck happened to society. Anyway, I’m not mad, I’m just sad that the girl on the phone behaved like she couldn’t be bothered, “we are almost closed”. She should not be dealing with people and the health of pets.
Just got off the phone with the older dark haired lady I am assuming, since everyone else here is so sweet that I’ve talked to. I called to refill my dog’s anxiety medication, as per instructions from my vet. The first thing the reception lady does is tell me I ran out suspiciously fast I’ll do the math for you: 70 tablets prescribed, gave 5 per day as instructed on bottle for 14 days. That adds up to me! Don’t know why the snarky comments were necessary from her, just because she is bad at math and in a sour mood doesn’t mean I deserve to be low-key accused of something bad. Weird behaviour from a vet’s reception., and then she angrily tells me over and over again I don’t know why she did this, I was fully OK with the fact I couldn’t pick up right away “There’s no note on your file. No note on your file” while insinuating I’m lying about my vet telling me I have the option to refill. Why is everyone at this vet so wonderful except for her? It breaks my heart. As someone who is going through an extremely tough time right now, this made me super uncomfortable. It’s enough to make me consider switching vets. I hope she’s kinder to our pets than she is to me.
Absolutely terrible service from this place. Sure gone downhill in the last 2 years that's for sure. If you want a vet that isn't going to toss a bunch of attitude and make themselves feel above and beyond their clients go to Coastal Vet right across the street. They are lovely. VCA has lost out on hundreds of dollars from me in the short time frame since I have returned to Nanaimo. Again if you want a decent vet, go to coastal right across the street. :
Such a caring and professional Hospital. Today they helped out a fawn in need. It's so amazing they take in wildlife and care for. Unfortunately the Fawn didn't survive, but not without love and compassion to the end.
Never coming back! Never referring anyone to this place of horrible business practices, so unprofessional and rude! The older dark haired lady made us feel terrible for needing to come to them for help. Never, ever, ever turn to this company in your time of need, as they will kick you when you’re down and make you feel even worse about your decisions to do with your fur babies. Avoid this place like the plague! You’ve been warned!

Quality of care has tanked in the recent year. Incredibly disappointing and confusing service, if you’re looking for thorough care for your four legged loved one I would steer clear of this practice.
