I'm glad we have an emergency vet, they are lovely and super helpful, not to mention the peace of mind you have knowing there's one open in the case of an emergency. We've unfortunately had to visit this clinic a few times so am thankful that they are around. I do wish they were marginally more reasonably priced however as the last day visit cost over $1000.

I love Central Island Emergency Hospital, my only wish is that they could be my regular vets. The staff is wonderful, sympathetic and thorough. Thank you for everything you've all done for my fur babies. Best of care!

We took our cat into the emergency vet clinic at 10:30 pm as she was experiencing respiratory distress. The Vet, Chris Milligan, did not think it was an issue even though her work of breathing was so problematic that she was wheezing for breaths and respirations were 42 per minute. Additionally she had not been eating for approximately 5 days. He asked a few questions and did a very minimal assessment. The Vet determined our cat had gingivitis after my husband mentioned our cat had a lot of calculus build up on her teeth. the Vet prescribed an antibiotic specifically for gingivitis and morphine for pain. Less than 24 hours later our beloved family pet passed away. This was totally unexpected as there was zero communication conveyed to us that this was what was happening with our cat. Now, we can't help but wonder if our cat would have had a more thorough exam and a less dismissive vet if she would still be with us here today.

We don't know what our dog ingested but the assessment and treatment was thorough. We were given assurance that he would be ok and he is. The vet and staff were very kind.

Only use if you absolutely must as it is the only 24/7 vet clinic in centre Vancouver Island. I brought my dog here after it was vomiting, I was told the vet would be with me “shortly”, I’m worried what a “normal” wait time would be as “shortly” was over an hour, 1 hour and 15 mins to be precise. After the initial wait I was satisfied with the care and knowledge of the vet. Although I did feel taken advantaged of with his estimates as he told me there would be a $200 difference if I chose to proceed with an ultrasound on my dog. The ultrasound was actually an additional $700. Was indeed lied to or communication was extremely poor. The helpers are a bit friendly nothing that would wow me but the daytime front desk worker with the tattoos on her fingers is definitely not a people person. She was not friendly, seemed impatient, and her general attitude was not welcoming and lacked compassion. The total to have my dog checked, given medications for 2 days, hydration therapy, ultrasound and 2 night stay was $2100. Way too high in regards to services done at other vet clinics. Live and learn but others beware if you have time and a choice go to other clinics as service was just average but price was unjustified.
