I wish I could give negative stars. I have not been in A value village in a couple of years and was severely disappointed. Prices have more than quadrupled, they have gotten rid of change rooms and do not allow returns. Only exchanges. This is ridiculous. They expect you to either try clothes on in the aisle or bring it back and take something else home that you're not sure if it fits either. Will not be going to a value village again.
Just finished shopping at the value village on Wellington Street and this is the second time I've been literally hovered over while I'm using the self-checkout. Nothing makes you feel more like a criminal than having someone monitor you as you scan your own items and click a pen every time the scanner beeps in order to ensure you're not committing theft. It's outrageous that they treat customers this way, the same customers that supply them with the inventory being sold in their stores. I understand where the self-checkouts are located the space is rather enclosed. However, the three cash registers that are collecting cobwebs could ease some of the congestion. Prices continue to be outrageous, but this added security measure makes the shopping experience extremely uncomfortable.
I find it ridiculous that for a company that gets all their products from donations that they have self checkouts set up. Like not a single cashier??? Really? Just one person supervising like 4 different self checkouts? Make them do the job of 4 people?? Just keep cashiers and you’re good.
Awesome location. So many cool finds. My kids love the toy section. Tons of everything.
Used to be one of my favourote places to shop when I am looking for sonething vintage or something that I want to use it for craft purposes and doesn't need to be new. I know the similar one sometimes can be found in dollar stores but I love re-using items avoid making more garbage or waste. I was doing an art project for kids and was in search of tin boxes and glass vasefor candle making. I was shocked with the price of $8.99 for a chocolate empty tin boxes!!!!! No body would buy such things with the brand name on it and it was sitting there as long as I would remember!!!! The tin with the chocolate inside would cost less!. The vase that I was looking for was from follar store and I know as I was there right before heading to Value Village. Can you believe they priced out something from dollar store for $9.99! Where I found a brand new Hickory large jar with the lid on for $10.99 the other day in a craft store!!!nI think the people whom are doing the pricing these days totally forgot what was the main purpose of such stores. I was also donating there in a regular basis, but not anymore , I would take them to another thrift store.
