U-Haul Moving & Storage of Etobicoke

Great Service. We had a hitch installed on our car (VW Golf), called a few days before hand to make sure they had the right hitch in stock and then booked our appointment online. Toronto traffic made us a little late for our appointment and the staff were accommodating. The whole process took about 45 minutes. We called a few other hitch installers and U-Haul was by far the cheapest and most convenient to get too.

I made a reservation for a van at this location. I came to pick it up only to be told that “their system is down”. Staff had no idea when it would be back online. Was also told that it wasn’t their problem as they weren’t the ones responsible for fixing it. I reserved a van for a move, which needless to say was on a tight schedule, only to deal with the incompetence at this location. Terrible service, terrible company, I will not be using them again.

Not overly friendly staff here but they are professional in my experience. Never had a problem with their vehicles either. What more can you ask for?

The worst customer service I've ever gotten! To whom it may concern: I am writing to bring attention to the abominable treatment I received at U-Haul Moving and Storage of Etobicoke, located at 1472 The Queensway Etobicoke, ON M8Z1T5. I reserved a moving truck and received a confirmation email before September 28, 2017. I called U Haul to reconfirm and make sure there were no problems with my reservation on the 28th. I was assured that my reservation was fine and that I could pick up on Thursday evening, the 28th of September, and return on Saturday morning, the 30th. My entire move was reliant on this booking. I had made appointments to pick up new furniture on Thursday evening and Friday morning, and I had to load the truck of our belongings Friday evening. I was not able to book the elevator in our new location Friday evening, which is why I needed the truck until Saturday morning. I was reassured multiple times that this would not be a problem. When I arrived at U-Haul on Thursday afternoon, the employees refused to rent out the truck, despite my showing them my confirmation email. I have never seen such lack of customer care and service. After trying for nearly an hour to convince them, I agreed that I would return it that same evening as they wanted. I had to pick up the sofas I had ordered that evening. I gave in to their unreasonable demands and said I would return it after getting the sofas. They then went on to say they didn't believe I would and refused to rent it! This is despite my having a reservation! I have never seen such despicable attitudes in my life. If you cannot be polite and honour the work you are paid for, then you are in the wrong line of work. You cannot assume wrongly that I wouldn't return it on time and refuse to honour the reservation. After more than two hours, I left as I had to go to work. My wife then hurriedly, and with a small baby, began calling all moving companies to see if we could get anything at the last minute. She had to drive half an hour to rent from Thrifty at an exorbitant price, but they had excellent customer service! The employee there stayed open an hour past his closing time to help us when she explained what a predicament we were in! We had commitments and obligations, and U-Haul treated us as if we weren't even human. Not a shred of compassion or any feelings!
