We had a fabulous meal and experience. The menu has a great mix of food for almost any pallet. I had the lamb curry and it was really good. just enough heat to give it some pizzazz. The service was top notch. He was there enough that I felt fully attended to but not so much as being intrusive. We will definitely be back.
Owners really try to save money on staff. On a Friday night there were over 12 tables seated and only one server. Bartender tried to help out, but didn’t even know if Pinot Grigio was white or red wine. We were seated at at the table without 4 chairs and waited for 15 min to get appropriate seating to simply fit at the table. Water arrived 30 min later. Food took 1 hrs to arrive and out of 6 dishes, 3 were delivered and eaten, three other people had to wait for another 30+ minutes to get our food pizza, calamari, curry. No apologies were given, no table checkups. No cutlery at the table. Same issues happened with tables beside us. The food is tasty, location is nice, interior is cute. But they really need to step up their game on staffing - it’s not fair to their employees and customers. This was the worst service I had in 10 years
Had their shrimp dish and it delivered on authentic Ceylon flavour!! Two toddlers enjoyed their penne pasta with butter sauce or tomato. I had to try their waffle fries, delicious side. Owner was concerned that their were a few bees in the patio and took us inside. Stunning. Toddlers and parents were able to enjoy in peace and with AC. Can't wait to try again!
Never wrote a review but the dinner deserved it. Not a good experience at all, went for dinner with wife. Ordered a classic burger for myself and linguini for wife. Did not keep track of time but the wait was long for a burger and even longer for the linguini, roughly 25 mins since we sat down. We sat near the window where the staff can reach inside to grab the food and water, so we could see our food coming. After mayber 20 mins, one of the girls came out from kitchen with the burger, then another male staff who had no mask came out short after, spoke to the girl and he spoke too close to my food for my comfort. I was later informed that he is one of the managers. After seeing my burger may have been 'moisturized' I was not looking forward to my dinner all of a sudden given the current covid19. The burger was alright, a bit dry for me. What made this a 1 star review was the service, I spoke with the girl about my concern after she and the manager fist bumped and left, she immediately became hostile in her tone, at this point I just wanted to finish my plate and go home. To be honest I expected better as this is somewhat local on Main Street.
Great food and service. we went for dinner with two kids and the food was great. Butter Chicken was great as was the Americano pizza we added sausage. The service was great and accommodating to our requests. Will definitely be back to try the other dishes.
I really don’t want to be typing a 1 star review especially for a small business during these tough times but I have to say unfortunately it was fully deserved. We ordered takeout for the family today veggie burger, butter chicken, mahi mahi and chicken souvlaki and I must say it was the biggest disappointment in a long time. I’ll start off with the butter chicken; the portion was enough for maybe a 10 year old. There was almost no sauce, very little rice and not to mention the rice was cold before I get slandered for saying this, we live 300 meters away from the restaurant I’ve paid the same for butter chicken from high end indian restaurants and gotten more than 3x the amount and to too it off the naan was so burnt I had to throw it out. Moving on to the chicken souvlaki, the portion was a rather normal sized portion, for whatever reason there was a piece of wax paper under the rice which I found odd, the potatoes were cold and the tzatziki sauce smelled and tasted like Alfredo sauce. My sister had the Veggie burger and it wasn’t dressed at all, she had to add her own tomatoes, there were barely any fries and overall it was just a sad burger. Lastly, the mahi mahi, there were no complaints there, it was passable, not outstanding but not as much of a disappointment as everything else. To sum it all up, I really try to cut these places some slack especially throughout these tough times but cold food and tiny portions especially when you’re paying almost 20$ for a meal is just unacceptable. I have had experiences from a few places that would leave little notes, throw in some little snacks with our orders and I must say it’s incredible marketting because it’s made us feel valued as customers and as a result we’ve returned to those places. As much as it pains me to say this because I love supporting local businesses, I will never be eating at Tulsi ever again. In my opinion I think they’re trying too much with the menu and should maybe in turn try narrowing it down rather than offering indian food, greek food, pub food, italian food, etc. As it may be overwhelming for the chefs to produce consistently good meals.
Just ordered some take-out from the new restaurant, Tulsi, on Main Street. The butter chicken has lots of meat! Is nicely flavoured, tender, and I will return to try more! They have done a beautiful job on the renovation! The bathroomi know this seems odd IS BEAUTIFUL!! : Stouffville, get in there...it's wedding anniversary/first date/girls night perfection!
This is such an amazing restaurant! I've been 3 times in the last two weeks! I tried the lasagne, lamb chops and chicken cacciatore and they were all amazing. I hear the crepes are awesome so I'll try them next. The prices are extremely reasonable, the staff is lovely and extremely attentive. And the decor and the washroom are beautiful! Can't wait to go for lunch!
Our attempt to support a local business during COVID-19 did not go well. We ordered online and received a confirmation email that they had accepted our order. Upon arrival for pickup at the restaurant, the chef said they didn't receive our order and then said something like the owner doesn't check the orders or some other excuse. He then said that they weren't currently making one of the items we ordered even though the website said it was available from 5-10pm. I ordered something else instead and had to wait outside for 20 minutes for the order. The only food that I can say was good is the butter chicken. The Caesar salad was okay but pretty basic and could use alot more parmesan. My girlfriend got the Tulsi salad and was very disappointed. There was a piece of paper underneath it that she didn't see and ate pieces of it because it got so soggy from the dressing. The two tiramisu cakes were still frozen. I don't think we will be going back.
Have been here twice so far. First experience was dine in pre covid and the meal was tasty. The portion was generous and the meal was visually appealing. We went on their website today to place an order for delivery. We waited an hour and the food still didn’t arrive. After calling in, we were told that the system was recently updated and that they were actually getting bombarded with “online orders” - ours was mistakenly discarded as a potential duplicate. The person on the phone asked me to text my order to them and assured me that they’d make the meal pronto. The meal came in about 45 minutes thereafter. We ordered the signature egg curry. It was tasty and we enjoyed it! The only complaint is that the portion was very small for the value. We paid $17 for 2 eggs and yellow rice, with a side of yogurt and some naan triangles. You’d expect at least 3 eggs for that price. Their brunch menu has 3 egg meals for a lower price hence the assumption that the portion would be just as large. You’d think that for missing our entire online order and making us wait the initial hour, plus the next 45 minutes that they’d offer us a discount or toss in a free side. Wrong! Maybe we have high expectations, but it’s more common courtesy at this point. We also had the village Greek salad. That was great! Will definitely have that again. Lastly, we had told them that we wanted to pay by card, they didn’t say we couldn’t. When the delivery came, they would only accept cash or etransfer. Another pitfall! They get 4 stars as the food was tasty, and no issues on quality. The 5th star will be earned once their portions are adjusted and their customer service improves.
